Best Email Verification Software in 2026

The short answer

  1. #1 Bouncer: Email verification from Wrocław, hosted in the EU. Best for: Small senders who want EU hosting.
  2. #2 Emailable: Email verifier with bulk, API and signup widget. Best for: Teams testing before they buy.
  3. #3 Kickbox: Email verification platform from New York. Best for: Mid-sized senders needing compliance.

Visibility in this ranking can be paid for. Payment moves a vendor's position within the shortlist; it never adds a vendor, and it never changes a word of the review. The largest vendors in email verification software cannot hold places 1 to 3. Places 1 to 3 go to challengers, vendors outside the best-known brands in a category, wherever the category has them; the established names follow from place 4 in their ranked order. How it works: placement disclosure · editorial process.

The 12 tools, reviewed

#1 Bouncer

Email verification from Wrocław, hosted in the EU · Poland · usebouncer.com

EU hosted Pay as you go Form protection

Bouncer takes first place because buying it is the least confusing in this group: 1,000 credits cost $8, 100,000 cost $400, and nothing you buy lapses. It is a Polish company that lists its registered office, KRS number and EU VAT ID on the contact page, and it says the service is located and hosted in the EU.

  • Pricing: Usage-based. Pay as you go from $8 for 1,000 credits, $400 for 100,000 and about $2 per 1,000 at one million. Free plan: free trial.
  • Best for: Small senders who want EU hosting
  • Strengths: Bulk list verification; Real-time API; Bouncer Shield for signup forms.

Where it falls short

The headline price covers list and API checks only; Shield, the deliverability kit and enrichment are priced separately.

Wrong for

Teams that want warmup, inbox placement tests and DMARC monitoring from the same vendor and the same credits.

#2 Emailable

Email verifier with bulk, API and signup widget · United States · emailable.com

Published pricing SOC 2 Type II Signup widget

Emailable gives every new account 250 free credits, enough to run a real sample from a list instead of a toy file. Credits do not expire, unknown results and duplicates are returned to the balance when a list finishes, and a written guarantee promises a refund on qualifying emails that bounce, if reported within 72 hours.

  • Pricing: Usage-based. Pay as you go with the default slider at $38 for 5,000 credits ($0.0076 each) and lower rates at volume. Free plan: free trial.
  • Best for: Teams testing before they buy
  • Strengths: Bulk list verification; Real-time API; Signup form widget.

Where it falls short

The guarantee has conditions, among them the 72-hour reporting window and the vendor's own definition of a qualifying email, so it is not a blanket refund.

Wrong for

Senders who need warmup, inbox testing and DMARC reports from the same account, or who require EU-only processing.

#3 Kickbox

Email verification platform from New York · United States · kickbox.com

Public price table SOC 2 US and EU

Kickbox prints its full price ladder, from 100 free verifications up to one million for $2,999, and credits spent on unknown results are refunded. It says it is GDPR-compliant and SOC II certified, with verification and support based in both the US and the EU, and it has offices in New York and London.

  • Pricing: Usage-based. Public volume table: first 100 free, $5 for 500, $70 for 10,000, $500 for 100,000 and $2,999 for one million verifications. Free plan: free trial.
  • Best for: Mid-sized senders needing compliance
  • Strengths: Bulk list verification; Real-time API; Email Threat Score.

Where it falls short

It costs more per address than the budget tools: 100,000 verifications are $500 here against $400 at Bouncer, and 50,000 are $275 against $89 at MillionVerifier.

Wrong for

Cost-driven buyers cleaning large one-off lists, and anyone after a subscription that bundles warmup and inbox tests.

Visit Kickbox →

#4 ZeroBounce

Validation, scoring and deliverability tools in one account · United States · zerobounce.net

Broad suite Scoring Warmup and DMARC

ZeroBounce treats address checking as one part of a deliverability account. The same credits pay for validation, a 1 to 10 AI score for catch-all addresses, activity data and the email finder (20 credits per successful query), while the account adds warmup, inbox placement tests, blocklist monitoring and a DMARC monitor.

  • Pricing: Usage-based. Pay as you go from $39 for 2,000 credits. Free plan: free plan.
  • Best for: Teams wanting deliverability tools bundled
  • Strengths: Bulk and real-time validation; AI scoring from 1 to 10; Activity data.

Where it falls short

Credits never expire only while a ZeroBounce ONE subscription is active; other accounts fall under rules that depend on purchase date. Activity data, warmup and DMARC monitoring are not part of the free tier.

Wrong for

A buyer who wants one cheap clean now and credits that stay valid for years without a subscription.

#5 MillionVerifier

Low-cost bulk and API email verifier · New Zealand · millionverifier.com

Lowest price EverClean automation Credits kept

On published numbers MillionVerifier is the cheapest tool here: 50,000 credits cost $89 and a million cost $449. It covers bulk upload, a REST API, a catch-all verifier and EverClean, which checks new contacts every day inside connected platforms such as Mailchimp, HubSpot or ActiveCampaign. Under its terms, paid credits do not expire merely because time passes.

  • Pricing: Usage-based. Homepage calculator shows $89 for 50,000 credits and $449 for one million, with list plans from $39, 100 free credits and credits that do not expire. Free plan: free trial.
  • Best for: Large lists on a tight budget
  • Strengths: Bulk list verification; Real-time REST API; Catch-all verifier.

Where it falls short

The refund promise for risky addresses applies only to files uploaded through the web app and only when listed conditions are met; API and single checks are excluded.

Wrong for

Teams that want a vendor with long-stable legal terms, EU processing or bundled warmup and monitoring.

#6 Clearout

Verifier with finder and form-guard add-ons · United States · clearout.io

Finder included Credits roll over Sheets add-on

Clearout is the choice when the same people verify addresses and also hunt for new ones. Alongside the verifier it sells an email finder, Form Guard for signup forms, a Google Sheets add-on, a WordPress plugin, a LinkedIn Chrome extension and a phone checker, all on one credit balance.

  • Pricing: Usage-based. Pay-per-use credits plus monthly plans with discounts of up to 20%; unused subscription credits roll over and 100 free credits come at signup. Free plan: free trial.
  • Best for: Sales teams mixing find and verify
  • Strengths: Bulk list verification; Real-time API; Catch-all verification.

Where it falls short

Subscription changes require the full amount and the vendor does not give partial refunds, pointing to its 100 free credits as the trial. The 99.73% accuracy figure is a vendor claim.

Wrong for

Buyers who want to read a fixed price list before they register, and teams that only need address checks with no prospecting tools.

Visit Clearout →

#7 EmailListVerify

Euro-priced email verifier from Slovakia · Slovakia · emaillistverify.com

Euro pricing EU servers DNS tools

EmailListVerify is a Slovak company whose terms give its registration number, VAT ID and registered address in Bratislava. Prices are in euros, the minimum purchase is 1,000 credits, and new accounts get 100 free verifications. The privacy policy says data of EU-based customers is processed and stored on EU-based servers.

  • Pricing: Usage-based. Euro credits with a 1,000-credit minimum. Free plan: free trial.
  • Best for: Euro-paying buyers wanting EU data
  • Strengths: Bulk list verification; Real-time API; Catch-all checker.

Where it falls short

We found no published refund promise or accuracy figure on the pages we read, and credit expiry is not stated next to the price calculator.

Wrong for

Buyers who need a SOC 2 statement or a contractual refund on bounces before they sign anything.

#8 Verifalia

Email verification with daily free credits · Italy · verifalia.com

Daily free credits Many currencies Italian company

Verifalia is operated by Cobisi Research under the Verifalia trade name, with a registered office in Vigonza, province of Padua, and Italian law governing the terms.

  • Pricing: Usage-based. Pay-as-you-go packs that never expire, or monthly plans with daily free credits (25 on Free, then 250, 1,250, 6,250 and 25,000). Free plan: free plan.
  • Best for: Small recurring checks on a budget
  • Strengths: Bulk list cleaning; Real-time API; Website widget.

Where it falls short

Daily credits vanish at the end of each day, so a team that cleans one large list a month gets little from the allowance and ends up buying packs.

Wrong for

Anyone who verifies in occasional large batches and wants a flat monthly rate with rolling credits.

Visit Verifalia →

#9 mailfloss

Daily automatic list cleaning for email platforms · Canada · mailfloss.com

Autopilot cleaning Free monthly tier Platform integrations

mailfloss is built around leaving the job running: connect your email platform and it verifies new subscribers every day, fixes typos and tags the results back. Its about page says the company was founded in 2017 and builds in Canada.

  • Pricing: Flat monthly. Free tier of 500 verifications a month. Free plan: free plan.
  • Best for: Marketers wanting hands-off cleaning
  • Strengths: Daily automatic cleaning; Prepaid credits for one-time lists; Typo fixing.

Where it falls short

The design assumes a connected platform, so cleaning a standalone CSV is the secondary route.

Wrong for

A business that verifies a list only once or twice a year.

#10 Mailgun Validate

Validation add-on inside the Mailgun email platform · United States · mailgun.com

Sinch Email API and bulk Sender add-on

Mailgun Validate offers an API for checks at the point of entry and a bulk route for existing lists, returns a risk score, and lets you run an aggregate preview of list health at no cost before you commit.

  • Pricing: Quote only. Sold as an add-on to sending plans, with one higher plan listing 5,000 validations included; standalone Validate prices were not readable. Free plan: none.
  • Best for: Existing Mailgun senders
  • Strengths: Validation API; Bulk list upload; Risk score.

Where it falls short

Verification is a side line of an email API company: we found no public price list for standalone use, no free credit allowance, and none of the warmup or monitoring bundles that specialists sell.

Wrong for

Anyone who does not send through Mailgun and wants a self-serve one-off clean with prices visible up front.

Visit Mailgun Validate →

#11 Twilio SendGrid Email Validation

Validation API for SendGrid Pro and Premier accounts · United States · sendgrid.com

Twilio Pro and Premier only API first

SendGrid's validation product has two routes. The real-time API checks one address per call and returns the result in the response; the bulk API takes a CSV or compressed CSV uploaded to a unique URL and processes it asynchronously. The API reference says it is available to Email API Pro and Premier level accounts only, with its own key.

  • Pricing: Quote only. Available only on Email API Pro and Premier accounts and needs a separate validation API key; the documentation states no standalone price. Free plan: none.
  • Best for: Existing SendGrid Pro customers
  • Strengths: Real-time validation API; Bulk validation by CSV or zip upload; Asynchronous bulk processing.

Where it falls short

It is not sold to buyers who are not already on a high SendGrid tier, so there is no self-serve entry for a one-off clean. The documentation gives no price, no free credits and no accuracy figures.

Wrong for

A small sender on a lower SendGrid plan, or any company that sends through another provider.

#12 mailboxlayer

Email validation JSON API from Vienna · Austria · mailboxlayer.com

API only Vienna Request-based

mailboxlayer is a plain REST endpoint: pass an address in the URL and receive JSON with format, MX, SMTP, catch-all, role, disposable and free-provider flags plus a quality score. It is maintained by apilayer, an Austrian company registered in Vienna, and its privacy policy cites the GDPR and the Austrian data protection act.

  • Pricing: Usage-based. Free plan restricted to non-commercial use, then monthly plans by request volume, for example $14.99 for 5,000 requests on the product page. Free plan: free plan.
  • Best for: Developers wiring checks into apps
  • Strengths: Syntax and typo check; MX-record check; Real-time SMTP verification.

Where it falls short

Two vendor pages disagree: the homepage offers 1,000 free requests and subscriptions from $9.99, while the pricing page lists 100 free requests and Basic at $14.99.

Wrong for

Marketers who need to clean a spreadsheet without writing code, and anyone who needs a commercial free tier.

What this category is

Email verification software checks whether an address can receive mail without sending a message. It tests syntax, domain records and mailbox response, and flags disposable, role-based, catch-all and spam-trap addresses, so lists can be cleaned in bulk or addresses screened at signup through an API.

How we ranked these

Five tests, applied to every product. The order is not the tests alone: places 1 to 3 go to challengers, vendors outside the best-known brands in a category, wherever the category has them, and the established names follow from place 4 in their ranked order.

  • Setup: First list, first API call, first connection.
  • The real price: Credits, expiry and unknown results.
  • Getting your data out: Result files and how long lists stay.
  • Independence from the vendor: What happens if you leave.
  • Who it's for: One-off cleaners, form guards and always-on senders.

What the data says about this market

Of the twelve products in this ranking, six are headquartered in the United States (Emailable, Kickbox, ZeroBounce, Clearout, Mailgun and Twilio SendGrid) and the other six are spread across Poland, New Zealand, Slovakia, Italy, Canada and Austria. Eight publish a price we could read in the page text: ZeroBounce, Kickbox, Bouncer, MillionVerifier, Emailable, EmailListVerify, mailfloss and mailboxlayer. Four do not, either because the table renders in the browser (Clearout, Verifalia) or because validation is sold inside a sending account (Mailgun, SendGrid). Four offer a permanent free tier of some kind: ZeroBounce, Verifalia, mailfloss and mailboxlayer.

How to choose

  1. Count what you verify and how often. Start with the pattern, not the brand.
  2. Run the same seeded sample through two tools. Take 2,000 addresses from your list, add 50 you know are dead, 50 you know are alive and a few disposable ones, and upload the file to two vendors using their free credits.
  3. Read the legal page before you upload. Open the terms and the privacy policy of your shortlisted vendors and find four things: the legal entity and its country, how long your uploaded file is kept, where it is processed, and what the refund or guarantee actually covers.

Questions and answers

What is the best email verification software in 2026?

Bouncer ranks first of 12, best for small senders who want EU hosting. Emailable is second (teams testing before they buy) and Kickbox third (mid-sized senders needing compliance). Places 1 to 3 go to challengers, vendors outside the best-known brands, wherever the category has them.

How accurate is email verification, really?

No tool can be fully certain, because some servers accept every address and only reveal bounces later. Vendors in this ranking claim figures between 99% and 99.73%, and those are their own statements.

What is the difference between email verification and email validation?

In practice vendors use the two terms for the same job, and several sell the identical product under both names. Some use validation for syntax and domain checks and verification for the mailbox-level test with an SMTP conversation.

Do verification credits expire?

It depends on the vendor. Bouncer, Emailable, MillionVerifier and Clearout say purchased credits do not expire. ZeroBounce says credits never expire while a ZeroBounce ONE subscription is active, with other rules for other accounts.

Am I charged for unknown or risky results?

Often not. ZeroBounce does not charge for unknown results or duplicates, Bouncer says the same, Kickbox refunds the credit for unknown results and Emailable returns credits spent on unknown results and duplicates when the list finishes.

Is it safe to upload my customer list to a verifier?

The list is personal data, so you need a vendor you can describe in your privacy notice. Check the legal entity, where the data is processed and how long the file is kept.

Should I verify at signup or clean the list in bulk?

Do both if you can, because they solve different problems. A real-time check at the signup form stops typos and throwaway addresses from entering your list, and costs one credit per attempt.

How often should I re-verify my list?

Re-check before any send to addresses you have not mailed in the last few months, and before you move to a new sending platform or domain.

Does verification stop spam traps and blocklists?

It reduces the risk but cannot remove it. Verifiers flag known spam traps and role or abuse addresses, and ZeroBounce lists spam traps and abuse emails among the types it identifies.

Can I use the verifier built into my email platform instead?

Sending platforms increasingly bundle checks. Mailgun sells Validate as an add-on to sending plans and Twilio SendGrid limits its validation API to Pro and Premier accounts.

Which tool suits a very large one-off list?

For a single big file, compare cost per thousand at your size, credit expiry and whether unknown results are charged.
