Best Master Data Management Software in 2026

The short answer

  1. #1 Profisee: Volume-priced MDM that runs as SaaS or on your own cloud. Best for: Mid-size teams standardizing on Microsoft data tools.
  2. #2 CluedIn: Graph-based, Azure-native MDM billed per processed record. Best for: Teams that want to try MDM on real data first.
  3. #3 Semarchy: MDM with governance and integration, runnable inside Snowflake. Best for: Data teams that want a trial before a sales cycle.

Visibility in this ranking can be paid for. Payment moves a vendor's position within the shortlist; it never adds a vendor, and it never changes a word of the review. The largest vendors in master data management software cannot hold places 1 to 3. Places 1 to 3 go to challengers, vendors outside the best-known brands in a category, wherever the category has them; the established names follow from place 4 in their ranked order. How it works: placement disclosure · editorial process.

The 12 tools, reviewed

#1 Profisee

Volume-priced MDM that runs as SaaS or on your own cloud · United States · profisee.com

Volume pricing SaaS or PaaS Microsoft-native

Profisee takes first place because its pricing page explains how the bill is built before anyone talks to sales: pick Enterprise Edition for full matching and golden records or Application Edition for reference data, state a record volume, pick SaaS or PaaS. Domains and attributes are not billed separately, which removes the usual surprise when a second domain is added.

  • Pricing: Quote only. Quote based; price follows edition (Enterprise or Application), total record volume and deployment, with no per-domain or per-attribute charges. Free plan: none.
  • Best for: Mid-size teams standardizing on Microsoft data tools
  • Strengths: Matching and survivorship; Golden record management; Reference data management.

Where it falls short

No dollar figure is published, so the model is transparent but the number still comes from a quote.

Wrong for

A company whose data stack sits on a non-Microsoft cloud and has no appetite for operating Kubernetes, or a buyer who needs a public price list and a free trial before any conversation with a vendor.

Visit Profisee →

#2 CluedIn

Graph-based, Azure-native MDM billed per processed record · Denmark · cluedin.com

Pay as you go Azure-native Free first 15,000 records

CluedIn is the only product here where a buyer can create an environment without a credit card, load up to 15,000 records and see golden records on their own data before any contract exists.

  • Pricing: Usage-based. Pay per processed record and AI credit, billed monthly. Free plan: free plan.
  • Best for: Teams that want to try MDM on real data first
  • Strengths: Golden records; Matching and deduplication; Data quality and cleaning.

Where it falls short

The platform is described as Azure-native and integrates with 27 Azure services, so it follows Microsoft's cloud rather than being neutral about it.

Wrong for

An organization committed to AWS or Google Cloud as its primary platform, or a finance team that needs a fixed annual number rather than a monthly bill driven by record volume.

#3 Semarchy

MDM with governance and integration, runnable inside Snowflake · United States · semarchy.com

Free trial Snowflake deployment 12-week blueprint

Semarchy was founded in 2011 in Lyon and is now headquartered in Arizona, with offices in France, the UK and India and more than 400 clients by its own count. The practical reasons to shortlist it are the free trial, the proof-of-value service and a published delivery plan (the Rapid Delivery Blueprint, which targets a live program in 12 weeks).

  • Pricing: Quote only. No prices on the site; a free trial and a proof of value are offered, commercial terms come from sales. Free plan: free trial.
  • Best for: Data teams that want a trial before a sales cycle
  • Strengths: Multidomain golden records; Data governance workflows; Data quality rules.

Where it falls short

Pricing is entirely behind sales; the site has no pricing page, so there is no way to size a budget from the website.

Wrong for

A buyer who wants published prices before the first call, or a business team that only needs a reference-data list and not a platform with integration and data product tooling attached.

Visit Semarchy →

#4 Ataccama ONE

Data quality platform with a multidomain MDM module · Czechia · ataccama.com

Data quality first Cloud or on-prem Unlimited consumers

Ataccama ONE starts from data quality and adds the master data module on the same platform as the catalog, lineage, reference data and observability, which suits programs where bad source data is the real obstacle and matching is the second step.

  • Pricing: Quote only. Quote only; priced by named users, data objects and active data quality configurations, with unlimited view-only users and no hard volume limits. Free plan: none.
  • Best for: Companies fixing quality and mastering together
  • Strengths: Multidomain mastering; AI matching; Stewardship workflows.

Where it falls short

MDM is one module among many, so a team that wants only a hub pays attention to which parts of the platform it is licensing.

Wrong for

A small team that needs one mastered domain and nothing else, or a buyer who wants a free sandbox to test matching rules before talking to a vendor.

Visit Ataccama ONE →

#5 Reltio

Cloud-native MDM with AI-driven entity resolution · United States · reltio.com

Cloud-native Entity resolution 1,000+ connectors

Reltio describes itself as born in the cloud and positions its Context Intelligence Platform around entity resolution, using pretrained matching models to build golden records, then curating quality continuously and sharing the result through low-code integration and over 1,000 prebuilt connectors. The platform spans industries the site names as life sciences, financial services, insurance, healthcare, travel, retail, manufacturing and high tech.

  • Pricing: Quote only. No pricing published; sales contact and demo request only. Free plan: none.
  • Best for: Enterprises unifying customer data across many sources
  • Strengths: Entity resolution; Multidomain MDM; Data quality monitoring.

Where it falls short

Nothing about price, tiers or a self-service start appears on the site; every path ends in a demo request. The pages we read describe cloud delivery only and do not mention an on-premises option.

Wrong for

A mid-size company with one or two domains and a modest budget, or a regulated buyer whose policy requires keeping master data on its own infrastructure.

Visit Reltio →

#6 Stibo Systems

STEP multidomain MDM with product, customer and supplier clouds · Denmark · stibosystems.com

Multidomain Product data Danish vendor

Stibo Systems has one platform, STEP, and sells it through domain-specific clouds: product experience, customer experience, business partner, supplier, location and sustainability data. It claims a Leader position in the 2026 Gartner Magic Quadrant for Product Information Management, which fits the product-data depth visible on its pages, including onboarding and syndication.

  • Pricing: Quote only. No pricing published; enterprise sales process. Free plan: none.
  • Best for: Large manufacturers and retailers with product-heavy data
  • Strengths: Product information management; Customer single view; Supplier data cloud.

Where it falls short

Cost and packaging are not visible, and the number of cloud solutions on the site makes it hard to tell which are separate licenses.

Wrong for

A company mastering a single domain with a small team, or a buyer who wants to evaluate the software hands-on before any sales conversation.

Visit Stibo Systems →

#7 Pimcore

Open-core MDM, PIM and DXP platform you can host yourself · Austria · pimcore.com

Open core Self-hostable Published prices

Pimcore is the one entry where a developer can download the core, model data with more than 45 configurable data components and run the result without a license, then move to a commercial edition when support, long-term releases or extensions are needed.

  • Pricing: Open source + paid tiers. Community Edition free; published prices of $9,900 and $29,900 per year for commercial editions, custom quotes for the rest. Free plan: open source.
  • Best for: Developer-led teams that want source access
  • Strengths: Flexible data modeling; API-first onboarding; Integrated ETL and matching.

Where it falls short

The MDM page we read talks about unified, adaptable data and modeling, and gives less detail on survivorship rules and stewardship workflow than the dedicated MDM vendors on this list. Open core means the buyer's developers do much of the configuration, and the free edition leaves out the commercial features.

Wrong for

A business team with no developers, or a buyer who needs deep out-of-the-box matching and data steward workflow on day one.

Visit Pimcore →

#8 Boomi Data Hub

Golden-record hub that sits beside Boomi integration · United States · boomi.com

Inside iPaaS Unlimited domains Free trial

Boomi Data Hub is built to be added to an integration estate: Standard includes unlimited domains and users, a stewardship console, Boomi Suggest and a Record 360 view in Command Center, and Pro and Enterprise add data profiling, AI governance approvals, bi-directional synchronization, security controls and analytics.

  • Pricing: Quote only. Data Hub tiers (Standard, Pro and Enterprise) are quote only. Free plan: free trial.
  • Best for: Boomi customers adding master data to existing integrations
  • Strengths: Unlimited domains; Unlimited users; Stewardship console.

Where it falls short

The hub is one product on an integration platform, and the pricing page lists Data Hub tiers with talk-to-sales buttons only, so the $99 monthly pay-as-you-go figure applies to the platform and not necessarily to Data Hub.

Wrong for

A team that has no integration platform and wants an MDM specialist, or a buyer needing detailed match-rule tuning and stewardship depth for a customer 360 program.

Visit Boomi Data Hub →

#9 Informatica MDM

Large MDM suite now owned by Salesforce · United States · informatica.com

Salesforce-owned IPU pricing Headless MDM

Informatica's MDM page now reads as part of Salesforce: the site is labeled Informatica from Salesforce and the legal footer names Salesforce, Inc. The product pitch is headless MDM, where the golden record and its stewardship can be reached through APIs and MCP servers from Salesforce, Slack, Databricks, Claude and other tools, plus self-tuning AI match and merge.

  • Pricing: Usage-based. Consumption-based Informatica Pricing Units (IPU) across services; quote required. Free plan: none.
  • Best for: Enterprises already running Informatica for integration and quality
  • Strengths: Headless MDM via APIs and MCP; AI-driven match and merge; CLAIRE AI engine.

Where it falls short

A single consumption currency spread over many services makes it hard to see what the MDM part costs alone, and the page offers a quote button rather than a number.

Wrong for

A small or mid-size business that wants a short deployment, a fixed price and a narrow product, or a buyer who prefers to keep master data vendors independent from CRM vendors.

Visit Informatica MDM →

#10 IBM Master Data Management

ML-matched multidomain MDM from IBM, SaaS or on-prem · United States · ibm.com

Hybrid deployment ML matching Free trial

IBM describes its MDM as a cloud-native platform that unifies data across domains with machine-learning entity resolution and relationship discovery. Stewardship tools with audit trails and ML guidance for match decisions are built in, and data can be loaded, published and configured through no-code tools and open APIs.

  • Pricing: Quote only. No price on the product page; free trial available, commercial terms through IBM sales. Free plan: free trial.
  • Best for: Enterprises with IBM data estates and hybrid needs
  • Strengths: ML-driven entity resolution; Multidomain matching; Relationship discovery.

Where it falls short

The product page is short on specifics: no tiers, no pricing, no quantified limits. Availability of features across SaaS and on-premises variants is not spelled out.

Wrong for

A buyer outside the IBM ecosystem that wants a lightweight start and transparent price, or a team that cannot afford the evaluation effort of a very large vendor.

Visit IBM Master Data Management →

#11 EBX

Model-driven MDM for master, reference and metadata · United States · onebx.com

Model-driven Reference data Hybrid deployment

EBX manages master, reference and metadata in a single model-driven environment, which fits organizations whose problem is shared hierarchies, code lists and cross-system consistency more than a single customer view. Its pages describe configurable match, merge and survivorship rules with visible match results for stewards, workflow approvals, permissions and audit trails, and governed REST and SOAP services for downstream systems.

  • Pricing: Quote only. No pricing published; demo request by form. Free plan: none.
  • Best for: Enterprises with complex hierarchies and shared reference data
  • Strengths: Multidomain MDM; Reference data management; Metadata management.

Where it falls short

The vendor presence is split across an ON EBX site, a documentation hub that carries a Cloud Software Group copyright, which makes ownership and packaging harder to follow.

Wrong for

A mid-size team looking for a quick, packaged SaaS start with public pricing, or a buyer who needs a strong stewardship interface described in detail before a demo.

Visit EBX →

#12 Syndigo

Product-centric MDM with syndication and GDSN services · United States · syndigo.com

Product MDM Retail data sharing Cloud-native

Syndigo's MDM page lists four mastered domains: product, B2B customer, vendor and location. It is the vendor on this list most tied to commerce data exchange, because the same company runs syndication, rich media, GDSN and a retail-side product experience cloud.

  • Pricing: Quote only. No pricing published; sales contact only. Free plan: none.
  • Best for: Brands and retailers exchanging product data with partners
  • Strengths: Product MDM; B2B customer MDM; Vendor MDM.

Where it falls short

The MDM page is marketing-level and short on matching, survivorship or stewardship detail.

Wrong for

A company with no product catalog or trading-partner data exchange, or a data team looking for a general-purpose hub with deep stewardship and finance-hierarchy capabilities.

Visit Syndigo →

What this category is

Master data management (MDM) software creates and maintains a single trusted record for each core business entity, such as a customer, supplier, product, location or account, by matching duplicates across source systems, applying survivorship rules to choose the best values, routing exceptions to data stewards, and publishing the resulting golden record to the applications and analytics that depend on it.

How we ranked these

Five tests, applied to every product. The order is not the tests alone: places 1 to 3 go to challengers, vendors outside the best-known brands in a category, wherever the category has them, and the established names follow from place 4 in their ranked order.

  • Setup: The modeling work comes before any matching.
  • The real price: Records, domains, users or consumption units.
  • Getting your data out: Golden records, rules and history.
  • Independence from the vendor: Cloud, parent company and stack.
  • Who it's for: A hub, a quality program or a data product layer.

What the data says about this market

Eight of the twelve vendors ranked here are headquartered in the United States: Profisee, Semarchy, Reltio, Boomi, Informatica, IBM, EBX and Syndigo. Two are Danish (CluedIn and Stibo Systems), one is Czech (Ataccama, registered in Prague) and one is Austrian (Pimcore). The map is less tidy than the addresses suggest. Semarchy was founded in Lyon in 2011 and now says it is headquartered in Arizona. Informatica is sold as Informatica from Salesforce. The EBX documentation hub carries a Cloud Software Group copyright, while its contact page lists Fort Lauderdale and Paris.

How to choose

  1. Name one domain and one failure first. Pick the single entity whose duplicates currently cost money: customers who receive two invoices, suppliers paid twice, products listed with conflicting specs.
  2. Run your own records through two products. Matching quality cannot be judged from a demo that uses clean sample data.
  3. Price three years of growth and one extra domain. Ask every vendor on the shortlist to quote the same scenario: your record count today, the count in three years, a second domain added in year two, and the same number of stewards.

Questions and answers

What is the best master data management software in 2026?

Profisee ranks first of 12, best for mid-size teams standardizing on Microsoft data tools. CluedIn is second (teams that want to try MDM on real data first) and Semarchy third (data teams that want a trial before a sales cycle). Places 1 to 3 go to challengers, vendors outside the best-known brands, wherever the category has them.

What is the difference between MDM and a data warehouse?

A warehouse collects data from many systems to analyze it, and it keeps the disagreements. An MDM hub resolves them: it matches duplicate customers or products, picks the surviving values and sends the corrected record back to operational systems.

What is a golden record?

A golden record is the single agreed version of an entity, built from several source records by matching them and applying survivorship rules, for example that the billing system wins for address and the CRM wins for phone number.

How long does an MDM implementation take?

Vendors quote weeks, and the quotes are for a first domain. Profisee states 90-day implementations and Semarchy markets a 12-week blueprint, while CluedIn describes starting in as little as 20 minutes for loading data.

Do small companies need MDM software?

Usually not until duplicate records start costing money, such as double invoicing, wrong shipments or conflicting customer counts. A company with one CRM and one ERP can often fix this with clean-up rules and an agreed system of record.

Is MDM the same as PIM?

PIM is master data management specialized for product content: attributes, descriptions, images and channel-specific variants. MDM is wider and also covers customers, suppliers, locations and reference data. Several vendors here, including Stibo Systems, Syndigo and Pimcore, sell both.

Can I run MDM on-premises or in my own cloud?

Yes, with some of these products. Profisee offers PaaS on Azure, AWS, GCP or on-premises, Ataccama says cloud or on-premise, EBX lists cloud-native, hybrid and on-premises, IBM lists SaaS, on-premises and hybrid, and Semarchy lists SaaS, on-prem, cloud and Snowflake.

How is MDM software priced?

By different units. Profisee prices by total record volume, CluedIn by processed records plus AI credit, and Ataccama by named users, data objects and active quality checks.

Who owns these vendors, and does it matter?

It can. Informatica is now sold as part of Salesforce. The EBX documentation carries a Cloud Software Group copyright, and Semarchy, founded in France, now says it is headquartered in Arizona.

Can an MDM hub feed AI agents?

Several vendors now ship connectors for it. Stibo Systems, Profisee and EBX mention MCP servers or MCP support, and Informatica describes reaching the golden record through APIs and MCP servers. This is a delivery mechanism.

What should I check before signing an MDM contract?

Check the unit that drives the price and how it is counted, the hosting cloud and region, and which of your rules and history you can export.
