Geotab alternatives: 12 compared

Fleets look past Geotab when they want one vendor for hardware, software and support, a published price, or a tool built around cameras or maintenance rather than an open data platform. Samsara, Motive and Verizon Connect are the closest full replacements; Webfleet suits European fleets and Fleetio or RTA Fleet360 suit maintenance-led teams.

Short answer: The closest replacements for Geotab in our fleet management software ranking are Samsara, Motive and Verizon Connect. Choose Samsara if you want cameras, fuel and tracking from one vendor rather than partner add-ons. All 12 alternatives below are ranked products from Best Fleet Management Software in 2026, and each says where it differs from Geotab and when Geotab is still the better choice.

Visibility in our rankings can be paid for. Payment moves a vendor's position within the shortlist; it never adds a vendor, and it never changes a word of the review or of this page. The first three alternatives go to challengers, vendors outside the best-known brands in a category, wherever the category has them; the established names follow in their ranked order. Why buyers look past Geotab

  1. Pricing is behind a sales conversation

Geotab lists two plans, GO Core and GO, but both say Get Pricing and neither shows a number. Larger fleets are told to contact sales for volume pricing. Buyers who want to compare a per-vehicle price before a demo have to look elsewhere.

  2. Much of the sale and support runs through resellers

Geotab describes its model as an authorized reseller network on top of its own platform. The reseller handles consulting, support and relationship management. That suits some fleets, but it means your contract, onboarding and service quality depend on which reseller you were sold to.

  3. The open platform assumes you will build or integrate

Geotab leads with its SDK, API and a Marketplace of 400+ solutions from 400+ partners. Add-ons such as cameras, sensors and BI connectors come from partners, and the Data Connector is a Marketplace product with a 30 day trial. Teams that want these in one product may prefer a suite.

What each alternative does differently

1. Samsara

Telematics, AI cameras and equipment monitoring in one cloud · United States

Samsara sells vehicle tracking, AI cameras, fuel management and equipment monitoring as one cloud platform from one vendor, where Geotab leans on partner add-ons. It lists 350+ integrations of its own. Pricing is on request, and hardware and software come from a single contract holder.

Switch from Geotab if you want cameras, fuel and tracking from one vendor rather than partner add-ons.

Pricing: Quote only, per vehicle per month with hardware included, typically on a multi-year agreement. (free trial)

2. Motive

ELD, AI dash cams and spend management for trucking · United States

Motive bundles driver safety AI, ELD, maintenance, equipment monitoring and a fuel card (the Motive Card) in a single suite. That is wider on spend and workforce tools than Geotab's core plans, and the vendor is your single point of contact. Pricing is on request, and trucking is its main audience.

Switch from Geotab if you run trucks or construction fleets and want ELD, cameras and a fuel card together.

Pricing: Quote only, per vehicle per month with hardware, commonly on annual or multi-year terms; fuel card and camera plans priced separately. (none)

3. Verizon Connect

Fleet tracking and field workforce tools from Verizon · United States

Verizon Connect pairs GPS tracking with dispatching, digital paperwork and compliance reporting aimed at mobile workforces and field service. Geotab is stronger as a data platform you extend yourself. Verizon Connect adds job-site geofencing and route replay for proof of visit, and cameras and ELD are options.

Switch from Geotab if you dispatch field crews and want job and paperwork tools with tracking.

Pricing: Quote only, per vehicle per month on multi-year contracts, with cameras, ELD and workforce apps as add-ons. (none)

4. Webfleet

European fleet telematics from Bridgestone · Netherlands

Webfleet is built around European needs: tachograph downloads, mileage log books, professional navigation with live traffic and dynamic dispatching. It offers a free trial request on its site. Its stated focus is operations in the field rather than an SDK-led ecosystem, so expect fewer third-party add-ons than Geotab.

Switch from Geotab if you run European vehicles and need tachograph downloads, navigation and dispatch.

Pricing: Per vehicle per month, sold directly and through partners, typically on fixed-term contracts with hardware. (free trial)

5. Teletrac Navman

GPS tracking for vehicles and heavy equipment · United States

Teletrac Navman covers vehicles and heavy equipment on one platform, with a driver scorecard, ELD, video telematics, routing and dispatch, and an Energy Hub for fuel and charging data. Pricing is quote only. These tools are built in rather than assembled from partner add-ons, which simplifies purchasing but narrows customization.

Switch from Geotab if you track construction or mixed equipment and want built-in driver scoring and video.

Pricing: Quote only, per vehicle or asset per month, usually on multi-year contracts with hardware included. (none)

6. Azuga

GPS tracking and dash cams with driver rewards · United States

Azuga (listed as Kepler Fleet in our data) sells GPS tracking with driver scoring and a rewards program that pays top drivers instead of only flagging mistakes. A dual-facing AI SafetyCam is an add-on. It is aimed at small and midsize service fleets and publishes plan prices.

Switch from Geotab if you want published per-vehicle prices and a driver rewards program.

Pricing: Published per-vehicle monthly plans with the plug-in tracker included: BasicFleet $25, SafeFleet $30 and CompleteFleet $35; the dual-facing SafetyCam AI adds $41.99 a month and ELD is a separate add-on. (none)

7. GPS Insight

Fleet tracking with detailed reporting for work fleets · United States

GPS Insight combines GPS tracking, smart cameras, ELD compliance and a field service management module with work orders and invoicing. It says it targets small and medium businesses in North America, including government and utilities. It is quote only and has no open marketplace comparable to Geotab's.

Switch from Geotab if you want field service work orders and invoicing alongside tracking.

Pricing: Quote only, per vehicle or asset per month, with hardware purchased or bundled depending on the plan. (none)

Full review: #2 of 13 in our ranking · Visit GPS Insight →

8. Lytx

Video telematics and driver coaching · United States

Lytx is a video telematics specialist: AI-powered driver risk detection and coaching workflows are its core, with telematics around it. It also sells Lytx+ with Geotab, a joint product, so it can sit beside Geotab as well as replace it. Pricing is per camera and quote only.

Switch from Geotab if collision reduction and video coaching matter more than an open data platform.

Pricing: Quote only, per camera per month, often with review services priced in and multi-year terms. (none)

Full review: #9 of 13 in our ranking · Visit Lytx →

9. Linxup

Simple GPS tracking and dash cams for small fleets · United States

Linxup targets small fleets with GPS tracking, dash cams, ELD and equipment and tool tracking in one app. It advertises transparent pricing, no-contract options and live US-based support. It is much narrower than Geotab's platform and offers no equivalent of the Marketplace or SDK ecosystem.

Switch from Geotab if you run a few dozen vehicles and want month-to-month terms and plain pricing.

Pricing: Published per-vehicle monthly plans, $25 for GPS tracking and $30 for ELD, with the plug-in device $69 upfront on month-to-month terms or free on a three-year agreement; cameras and asset trackers extra. (none)

Full review: #13 of 13 in our ranking · Visit Linxup →

10. Fleetio

Fleet maintenance and operations software, hardware-agnostic · United States

Fleetio is maintenance and operations software first, covering service scheduling, work and repair spend, and it lists ELD integration for trucking. It is not a telematics device vendor in the way Geotab is. Pricing is published per vehicle, with a free trial.

Switch from Geotab if your real need is maintenance, inspections and repair cost control.

Pricing: Published per-vehicle tiers (Essential, Professional, Premium), with the entry tier in the single-digit dollars per vehicle per month and capped at 100 vehicles; Professional and Premium are billed annually only and add parts inventory, integrations and advanced workflows. (free trial)

11. RTA Fleet360

Fleet maintenance and shop management software · United States

RTA Fleet360 is a fleet management information system for in-house shops, sold mainly to public sector fleets and backed by consultants and trainers from fleet backgrounds. Its homepage does not mention GPS tracking. It replaces Geotab's maintenance side, not its tracking hardware.

Switch from Geotab if you run a public sector fleet shop and need maintenance records more than live tracking.

Pricing: Published per-asset plans with unlimited users, billed annually with a 100-asset minimum: Pro $6, Advanced $8 and Enterprise $11 per asset per month; motor pool, equipment, tire and DVIR app modules are add-ons. (none)

Full review: #3 of 13 in our ranking · Visit RTA Fleet360 →

Switch from Geotab if you need fleet administration and maintenance records and will keep a separate tracker.

Pricing: Published Core plan at $5 (£5 in the UK) per vehicle per month; workshop, stock and the technician app sit in the quote-only Advanced plan. Both run on three-year contracts, and a self-serve Lite edition renews annually. (free trial)

When Geotab is still the right choice

Stay with Geotab if you want an open platform you can extend. Its SDK, API and Marketplace, the Data Connector for BI tools, the MCP Connector for AI assistants and support for third-party hardware through IOX are a real reason to keep it. It also fits mixed global fleets: Geotab says it supports 130+ countries and the GO plan includes tachograph management for Europe.

What to expect when you switch from Geotab

  1. Hardware is the real switching cost

Geotab devices are included in the subscription and installed by harness on the Next Gen GO. A new vendor will normally want its own devices, so plan for removal and re-installation across every vehicle. Ask your reseller what happens to the devices at the end of the term.

  2. Rebuild integrations and add-ons

Anything you built on the SDK or bought from the Marketplace, such as MyGeotab Add-Ins, BI connections or cameras, will not move. List each one with its owner before you sign, and check whether the new vendor has an equivalent.

  3. Run both systems side by side first

Overlap a small group of vehicles for a month. Compare trip, idling and rule-event counts between the two. Geotab's own historical data in MyGeotab stays with your database, so export the reports you need for audits before access ends.

Questions and answers

Does Geotab publish its prices?

No. Geotab shows two plans, GO Core and GO, and a Get Pricing button, and tells larger fleets to contact sales. Hardware is included in both plans, with no upfront device or installation fee.

Can I move from Geotab to another vendor and keep my devices?

Geotab hardware is included in the subscription, so devices are tied to the Geotab service. Whether they are returned or owned at the end depends on your contract, so ask your reseller; Geotab's public pages do not say.

Is Geotab sold directly or through resellers?

Mostly through authorized resellers. Geotab's partner page lists the reseller role as handling consulting, support and relationship management. Your contract is therefore often with the reseller, not with Geotab.

Which Geotab features need the higher plan?

Full HOS and ELD compliance, tachograph management, predictive maintenance, full fuel monitoring, EV analytics and video telematics integration are listed under the GO plan. GO Core covers live tracking, basic routing, maintenance scheduling by odometer and engine hours, and basic IFTA reporting.

Will my third-party add-ons work after I leave?

No. Marketplace add-ons, MyGeotab Add-Ins and SDK integrations are tied to the Geotab platform. Geotab says it has 400+ Marketplace solutions, so list which ones you use and ask the new vendor for equivalents.

Can Geotab data be used in BI tools before I switch?

Yes. The Geotab Data Connector sends fleet data to tools such as Tableau, Power BI and Excel, and it is offered through the Marketplace with a 30 day free trial. Use it to archive history before you leave.
