Buyers look past Claude when the five-hour and weekly usage caps stop a heavy user, when staff want image generation in the same app, or when the model-training default on individual plans is a problem. Most go to ChatGPT for a like-for-like seat, to Google Gemini or Microsoft Copilot if the company already lives in Google or Microsoft, and to Mistral Vibe for a French vendor.
Visibility in our rankings can be paid for. Payment moves a vendor's position within
the shortlist; it never adds a vendor, and it never changes a word of the review or of this page. The first three alternatives
go to challengers, vendors outside the best-known brands in a category, wherever the category has them; the
established names follow in their ranked order. How it works:
placement disclosure · editorial process.
What each alternative does differently
1. ChatGPT
OpenAI's assistant, from a free tier to Enterprise · United States
The closest match in size and price. Business is $20 per user on annual billing with SAML SSO and MFA, and OpenAI states that business data is not used for training by default. Its Work and Codex plans share a credit pool, and GPT-5.5 left Codex on October 14, 2026.
Switch from Claude if you want a similar team seat from a larger vendor and can live with shared Work and Codex credits.
Pricing: Free $0; Go $8 per month; Plus $20; Pro $100, $200 or $500 per month; Business $20 per user per month annual ($25 monthly, 2+ users); Enterprise and Edu by quote. (free plan)

Switch from Claude if your staff use Google accounts and you want image generation and Deep Research in the same app.
Pricing: Free $0 per month; Google AI Plus $4.99; Google AI Pro $19.99; Google AI Ultra from $99.99 and $199.99 (5x and 20x Pro limits); business plans sit on a separate tab. (free plan)

3. Microsoft Copilot
Microsoft's assistant inside its apps and on the web · United States
Microsoft puts Copilot inside Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Teams, with Cowork named in the navigation. Individual access runs through Microsoft 365 Personal, Family, Premium or Pro. Business and enterprise licences are priced on separate Microsoft pages, so a team quote needs a reseller or the admin center.
Switch from Claude if your documents and mail already sit in Microsoft 365 and you want the assistant under that agreement.
Pricing: Free tier with a Microsoft account; Microsoft 365 Personal $9.99 per month, Family $12.99, Premium $19.99 and Pro $99.99 (monthly billing only); annual prices $99.99, $129.99 and $199.99. (free plan)

5. Perplexity
Source-linked answers with team seats and projects · United States
Answers come with sources, and the product is built around search more than long drafting or coding. Enterprise Pro starts at $40 per seat per month or $400 per year and states that data is never used for training. Nothing on the plan page we read mentions a coding agent.
Switch from Claude if most prompts are research questions and you want cited answers with a no-training business plan.
Pricing: Free Standard plan; Pro and Education Pro ($10 per month, verified students); Max $200 per month or $2,000 per year; Enterprise Pro per seat from $40 per month or $400 per year; Pro's own price was not on the help page we read. (free plan)

Switch from Claude if you want to compare many models in one place and will manage access yourself.
Pricing: Limits are expressed in messages per bot, points or compute points; purchased points follow Terms of Sale; no subscription price appeared on the pages we could fetch. (free plan)

8. DeepSeek
Free chat app from the DeepSeek model lab · China
The app is described as free, and the API is billed per million tokens at off-peak and peak rates, for example $0.15 input on a cache miss off-peak. The privacy policy says personal data is stored in the People's Republic of China. We found no team plan or SSO.
Switch from Claude if API cost matters more than seat features and your legal team accepts storage in China.

A free chat app on open-source models, where Omni chooses a model or you pick one yourself. It needs a Hugging Face account and carries a warning that output may be inaccurate. We found no paid chat plan, workspace or admin controls. PRO is a separate platform upgrade.
Switch from Claude if you want to test open models in a browser with no contract at all.

Questions and answers
Can I export my Claude chats before I switch?
Yes. Free, Pro and Max users export from Settings, Privacy on the web or desktop app, and a download link arrives by email. The link expires after 24 hours, and the export does not include the contents of uploaded files. It cannot be started from the iOS or Android apps.
Can a Team member export without the owner?
No. On Team and Enterprise, members can export their own chats only after an Owner or Primary Owner turns on the setting. Primary Owners export the whole organization from Organization settings. Ask the owner to enable it before the plan ends.
Does Anthropic train on my Team or Enterprise data?
No by default. The pricing page lists model training as none by default on Team and Enterprise, and the commercial terms say Anthropic may not train models on Customer Content from the Services. Free, Pro and Max show opt-out instead.
How long does Anthropic keep my chats after I delete them?
Deleted chats leave your history immediately and are removed from back-end storage within 30 days. Chats flagged as policy violations can be kept up to 2 years, and thumbs-up or thumbs-down feedback up to 5 years. Allowing training can keep de-identified data up to 5 years.
How much notice do I owe Anthropic on a commercial account?
The commercial terms let either party end them for convenience with notice, and Anthropic itself must give 30 days. Read your own order form, since a negotiated Enterprise contract can differ. Self-serve plans are cancelled under Organization settings, Billing.
Will switching lower my bill?
Not on list price for a team seat. Claude Team standard is $20 per seat annual and $25 monthly, and ChatGPT Business is $20 annual and $25 monthly. Mistral Vibe Team lists $24.99 per user. The saving, if any, comes from usage caps and from plan extras.
What happens to my Claude Code usage if I leave?
It ends with the plan. Anthropic says Claude Code is included in all paid plans and shares the plan's limits, with pay-as-you-go API credits as the alternative through a Console account. Check that your new tool covers coding before you cancel.
