Best Restaurant Reservation Software in 2026

The short answer

  1. #1 Resos: Commission-free booking system for small restaurants, cafes and bars. Best for: Independent restaurants, cafes, bars, pubs.
  2. #2 Zenchef: Reservation, payment and guest tools for restaurants, priced by plan. Best for: Restaurants wanting prepayments and payments.
  3. #3 Tablein: Reservation system with all features on every plan. Best for: Small restaurants, groups, hotel restaurants.

Visibility in this ranking can be paid for. Payment moves a vendor's position within the shortlist; it never adds a vendor, and it never changes a word of the review. The largest vendors in restaurant reservation software cannot hold places 1 to 3. Places 1 to 3 go to challengers, vendors outside the best-known brands in a category, wherever the category has them; the established names follow from place 4 in their ranked order. How it works: placement disclosure · editorial process.

The 11 tools, reviewed

#1 Resos

Commission-free booking system for small restaurants, cafes and bars · Denmark · resos.com

Commission-free Free plan Add-on pricing

Resos earns first place by being unusually plain about what it costs and what it takes. The pricing page lists a free plan, three paid tiers by monthly bookings and a priced add-on for each extra, and says there is no contract, commission or cover fee.

  • Pricing: Flat monthly, by bookings. Free plan with 25 bookings a month; Basic EUR 45 (350 bookings), Plus EUR 85 (750) and Unlimited EUR 125 a month; add-ons priced separately. Free plan: free plan.
  • Best for: Independent restaurants, cafes, bars, pubs
  • Strengths: Online booking widget; Visual table planner; Online waitlist.

Where it falls short

Useful extras sit behind paid add-ons: Reserve with Google is EUR 7.99, online payments EUR 11.99, custom design EUR 7.99, and add-ons are unavailable on the free plan.

Wrong for

A restaurant that wants a consumer app to send it new diners, or a hotel group that needs deep guest-segmentation and marketing automation.

#2 Zenchef

Reservation, payment and guest tools for restaurants, priced by plan · France · zenchef.com

Zero commission Prepayments Multi-venue

Zenchef is the strongest choice here for a restaurant that wants prepayments and a payment and marketing stack from one French vendor. Its page states zero commission per cover on guest bookings, lists the Reserve, Manage and Grow plans in a clear ladder, and publishes the card payment rates for each, which falls from 6% to 2% as the plan rises.

  • Pricing: Per plan, plus payment fees. Three plans (Reserve, Manage, Grow) quoted through its sales team, with card fees of 6%, 4% and 2% by plan and a three-month free offer running to 31 October 2026. Free plan: free trial.
  • Best for: Restaurants wanting prepayments and payments
  • Strengths: Booking widget; Google Reserve; Zenchef app.

Where it falls short

The subscription prices were not visible on the pages we could read, and the three-month offer ended on 31 October 2026. Payment fees of 6% on the lowest plan are high for a venue that takes many deposits.

Wrong for

A one-room cafe with no deposits that wants a fixed, low bill and no sales call.

#3 Tablein

Reservation system with all features on every plan · Lithuania · tablein.com

No commissions All features Per-restaurant

Tablein appeals to restaurants that do not want to think about plan tiers. Its pricing page says every plan includes all features, with no additional paid add-ons and no commission, and prices are shown in euro, pound and dollar. The product covers the calendar, list and floor plan views, SMS and email notifications, a guest database with segmenting and export, and deposits or no-show fees through Stripe.

  • Pricing: Per restaurant / month. Starter EUR 67 (50 reservations), Growth EUR 117 (150), Success EUR 177 (unlimited), billed monthly per restaurant, with EUR 0.37 to 0.67 for each extra booking on the first two. Free plan: free trial.
  • Best for: Small restaurants, groups, hotel restaurants
  • Strengths: Online table reservations; Automatic notifications; Floor plan view.

Where it falls short

The per-booking overage makes the bill unpredictable: the Starter plan includes 50 reservations and charges EUR 0.67 for each extra one, which a busy venue passes fast. The pricing page announces a version 3.0 beta, and its terms contain a chapter on ranking, visibility and paid placement in its directory, so the guide is not neutral.

Wrong for

A restaurant with high booking volume on a small plan, or one that wants discovery through a large consumer app.

#4 ResDiary

Table booking and yield management for restaurants, pubs and hotels · United Kingdom · resdiary.com

Commission-free Integrations AI insights

ResDiary is a mature booking system built for operators who think in covers per session rather than reservations per day. Its site states that bookings from your website, social media, Google and DesignMyNight carry no commission, lists over 70 integrations, and now leads with ResDiary Evo, an AI layer that flags best guests and no-show patterns. Pages are separated by venue type: restaurants, pubs and bars, cafes, hotels and groups.

  • Pricing: Quote only. Sold by demo; we could not read plan prices on the pages we reached, and its pricing page redirects to a separate sales site. Free plan: none.
  • Best for: Restaurants, pubs and hotel dining rooms
  • Strengths: Booking widgets; Table management; Yield management.

Where it falls short

Prices are not published where we could read them, which makes comparison harder for a small venue. The Evo AI features are new and we did not see them tested in a live service.

Wrong for

A single cafe that wants a posted monthly price and a five-minute signup.

#5 SevenRooms

Reservation and guest-data platform for hospitality groups · United States · sevenrooms.com

Guest CRM Marketing automation DoorDash company

SevenRooms suits a group that treats the guest list as a revenue engine. The site describes unified guest profiles across bookings and orders, AI table management, marketing journeys by email and SMS, event and upgrade sales, and a voice AI for phone bookings. Its footer says it is a DoorDash company, and the Starter plan includes access to DoorDash and Deliveroo reservation marketplace users with no cover fees.

  • Pricing: Quote only. Starter, Growth and Premium plans, all quote-based; Starter includes no cover fees on DoorDash and Deliveroo reservation marketplaces. Free plan: none.
  • Best for: Multi-venue groups with marketing teams
  • Strengths: Branded reservations; Waitlist management; CRM and guest profiles.

Where it falls short

Pricing is by quote and the pricing FAQ answers did not load, so extra costs and setup time are unknown to us. The product is broad, which means a small restaurant pays for CRM and campaign tools it will not use.

Wrong for

A bistro with 40 seats and no marketing staff.

#6 Eat App

Reservation and guest management platform with WhatsApp messaging · United Arab Emirates · eatapp.co

WhatsApp Free plan Guest CRM

Eat App fits a restaurant in a market where WhatsApp is the main way guests talk to a venue. The pricing page shows a free plan and paid tiers with a stated WhatsApp message allowance, and the product list includes table management, a waitlist, CRM, shift management, a loyalty suite, reviews and pay at table.

  • Pricing: Per venue / month. A free plan plus three paid tiers at $99, $199 and $389 a month billed monthly, or $69, $159 and $299 billed yearly, with 200 or 500 WhatsApp messages on the lower paid tiers. Free plan: free plan.
  • Best for: Busy venues in the Gulf and hotel groups
  • Strengths: Online reservations; Table management; Waitlist.

Where it falls short

The entry paid plan at $99 a month is double Resos Basic. The plan names on the pricing page appear differently in two places (Lite, Core, Pro and Starter, Essential, Pro), which suggests the page is mid-change.

Wrong for

A small cafe wanting a low fixed bill, or a restaurant in a market where WhatsApp is not the booking channel.

#7 Tableo

Booking system with a free tier for small restaurants · Not stated · tableo.com

Free tier Deposits Reserve with Google

Tableo is a low-friction way to start. The pricing page lists a free plan for up to 100 covers a month and three paid tiers that add commission-free bookings from your website, Google, Facebook and Instagram, then payments and SMS, then chain reporting and AI messaging tools. The site lists payments and deposits, WhatsApp, a guest database and a Syrve POS integration.

  • Pricing: Free, then flat monthly. Freemium up to 100 covers a month, then Organise at 59, Grow at 99 and Expand at 299 a month, with 17% off for annual billing (currency symbol not visible in the text we read). Free plan: free plan.
  • Best for: Small restaurants testing a free tier
  • Strengths: Floor plan and diary; Custom booking form; Payments and deposits.

Where it falls short

The terms and privacy pages name only Tableo Ltd, with no registered address or country, so we cannot confirm where it is based. The pricing page we reached did not show a currency symbol.

Wrong for

A buyer who needs a named registered address and a contract for compliance reasons.

#8 Yelp Guest Manager

Reservations, waitlist and table management from Yelp · United States · business.yelp.com

Yelp listing Waitlist No cover fees

Yelp Guest Manager makes sense if a restaurant already gets guests from Yelp. The product page lists tables across Yelp, Reserve with Google, Apple Maps and social platforms, floor maps, seating policies, two-way texting, card holds and a guest check-in kiosk, and quotes no cover fees. Yelp offers up to 60 days at zero cost and bonus advertising credit.

  • Pricing: Per month, tiered. Yelp's comparison page lists Yelp Guest Manager at $129 to $349 a month with no cover fees, plus a complimentary iPad and a free ad credit offer with purchase conditions. Free plan: free trial.
  • Best for: Restaurants already advertising on Yelp
  • Strengths: Online reservations; Waitlist management; Custom floor maps.

Where it falls short

The price range comes from Yelp's own page comparing itself with OpenTable and Resy, so treat it as a claim; the page does not explain what sets the price within the range. The ad credit requires a purchase.

Wrong for

A restaurant outside Yelp's audience, or one that wants to avoid advertising bundles.

Visit Yelp Guest Manager →

#9 Tock

Reservation and experience booking for restaurants and venues · United States · exploretock.com

Resy network Experiences Marketplace

Tock matters for venues that sell something more than a table: a tasting menu, a wine dinner, a prepaid experience. Its terms of use, effective 12 February 2026, describe bookings that can be a reserved experience, a pick-up or delivery order, a waitlist place or a payment made in person, and they say that each merchant sets its own cancellation and refund policy.

  • Pricing: Quote only. We could not read Tock's business pricing on its own pages; confirm current plans and processing fees with the vendor. Free plan: none.
  • Best for: Venues selling experiences or tasting menus
  • Strengths: Reservations; Experience bookings; Waitlist.

Where it falls short

We could not load Tock's business pages, so we could not verify pricing, payment fees or export options. Consolidation into Resy raises the question of how long the product keeps its own roadmap.

Wrong for

A neighborhood restaurant that wants a flat subscription with a posted price.

Visit Tock →

#10 Resy

Reservation and table management network for restaurants · United States · resy.com

Network Major Table management

Resy is a reservation brand with a strong consumer following among higher-end venues, and it is now the network that Tock says it belongs to. The vendor's own pages were blocked for us, so every fact here is limited: Yelp's comparison page quotes it at $289 to $459 a month with no cover fees, and Tock's site confirms the Resy network link.

  • Pricing: Per month. Per Yelp's comparison page, $289 to $459 a month with no cover fees; Resy's own pricing page would not load for us. Free plan: none.
  • Best for: Higher-end restaurants wanting network exposure
  • Strengths: Reservations; Table management; Waitlist.

Where it falls short

We could not read Resy's features, plans or terms, so a buyer must obtain written pricing, contract length and an export sample before signing. The price quoted by Yelp is a competitor's claim.

Wrong for

A restaurant on a tight budget or one that wants complete guest-data ownership.

Visit Resy →

#11 OpenTable

Reservation marketplace and table management for restaurants · United States · opentable.com

Marketplace Major Per-cover fees

OpenTable is the reference marketplace: diners know the app, and a listing there reaches people who would never find a small restaurant's own site. That reach is why it exists on this list. Its own pages timed out or blocked us, so we rely on the Yelp comparison page for the quoted range of $149 to $499 a month plus $1 to $1.50 per network cover.

  • Pricing: Per month plus per cover. Per Yelp's comparison page, $149 to $499 a month plus $1 to $1.50 per network cover; OpenTable's own pricing page did not load for us. Free plan: none.
  • Best for: Restaurants that want a large diner network
  • Strengths: Online reservations; Table management; Waitlist.

Where it falls short

Per-cover fees on network bookings can exceed the subscription in a busy month. We could not verify the plan structure, contract length or data export from OpenTable's own pages, so ask for all three in writing.

Wrong for

A restaurant whose regulars book directly and whose margins cannot absorb per-guest fees.

Visit OpenTable →

What this category is

Restaurant reservation software lets a venue take bookings online, by phone and from search or social links, and run them from a table plan. It records party size, seating time, guest notes and contact details, sends confirmations and reminders, and can hold a card against no-shows.

How we ranked these

Five tests, applied to every product. The order is not the tests alone: places 1 to 3 go to challengers, vendors outside the best-known brands in a category, wherever the category has them, and the established names follow from place 4 in their ranked order.

  • Setup: Opening hours, table plan and the booking widget.
  • The real price: Subscription, cover fees and payment cuts.
  • Getting your data out: The guest book is the asset.
  • Independence from the vendor: Whose guests are they?.
  • Who it's for: The shape of the dining room decides.

What the data says about this market

This market splits into two business models that happen to share a booking calendar. The first sells software to the restaurant for a flat fee and leaves the guest relationship alone: Resos, Tablein, Zenchef, ResDiary, Tableo and Eat App all describe themselves this way, and several print the words no commission. The second runs a consumer marketplace and sells the booking calendar as the way in: OpenTable, Resy, Tock and Yelp's Guest Manager earn from a network of diners as well as from the restaurant. SevenRooms sits between them, selling a guest-data platform and a delivery-app marketplace reach.

How to choose

  1. Count covers and compute the real monthly bill. Pull three months of bookings and note average covers per month, the share that arrives through a marketplace, and the share paid by card in advance.
  2. Test the booking flow your guests will actually use. Open the live widget from a phone, then try the awkward cases: a party of eleven, a same-day booking after the last seating, a guest who needs to cancel, and a booking made through Google.
  3. Plan the exit before you sign. Request the guest export in a spreadsheet format and open it: names, emails, phone numbers, visit counts, notes and consent flags should all be there.

Questions and answers

What is the best restaurant reservation software in 2026?

Resos ranks first of 11, best for independent restaurants, cafes, bars, pubs. Zenchef is second (restaurants wanting prepayments and payments) and Tablein third (small restaurants, groups, hotel restaurants). Places 1 to 3 go to challengers, vendors outside the best-known brands, wherever the category has them.

How much does restaurant reservation software cost?

Flat tools range from free to about EUR 125 a month for an independent restaurant.

Do reservation platforms charge a fee for every guest?

Some do, and it is the main difference between products. Resos, Tablein, Zenchef and ResDiary state they charge no commission on bookings. Yelp Guest Manager is listed by Yelp as having no cover fees.

How do I reduce no-shows with reservation software?

Combine automatic reminders with a financial commitment. Reminders by email, SMS or WhatsApp catch forgetful guests, while a card hold, deposit or prepayment deters casual ones.

Can guests book from Google Search and Maps?

Yes, with the right product.

Is a free reservation plan worth using?

For a small venue, yes, as long as the limit fits. Resos allows 25 bookings a month on its free plan with add-ons unavailable, and Tableo offers a free tier up to 100 covers a month.

Should a restaurant use a marketplace like OpenTable or Resy?

Only if the restaurant wants to be discovered by new diners and accepts the fees that come with it. A marketplace gives you a consumer audience, but you pay in subscription and per-cover fees and share the guest relationship.

What happened to Quandoo?

Quandoo's own website states that it has completed its planned and orderly closure and that the platform is no longer available.

Can the software handle waitlists and walk-ins?

Most mid-tier products do. Resos lists an online waitlist, Zenchef includes a waitlist from its Manage plan, Yelp Guest Manager markets wait-time quotes and check-in, and SevenRooms lists waitlist automation.

How long does it take to switch reservation systems?

A simple switch takes a few days: export the guest list, load tables and opening hours, update the widget on your site and Google link, and tell guests with future bookings.

Does reservation software integrate with a point of sale?

Many do, but only with a short list of systems. Yelp's page names Toast among POS integrations, Zenchef mentions a Lightspeed integration in a customer story, and Tableo lists a Syrve POS integration.
