Sellers look past ShipStation when the monthly fee climbs with every shipment tier, when automations, API access and returns sit on higher plans, or when postage runs through a prefunded balance. Most go to Shippo or Veeqo for a free tier on US carriers, or to Sendcloud, ShippyPro or MyParcel for European carriers and returns portals.
Visibility in our rankings can be paid for. Payment moves a vendor's position within
the shortlist; it never adds a vendor, and it never changes a word of the review or of this page. The first three alternatives
go to challengers, vendors outside the best-known brands in a category, wherever the category has them; the
established names follow in their ranked order. How it works:
placement disclosure · editorial process.
What each alternative does differently
1. Shippo

Switch from ShipStation if you ship on USPS, UPS, FedEx or DHL and want a free tier or one flat Pro tier.
Pricing: Starter is free up to 30 labels a month, Pro is $17 a month (or $205 a year) up to 10,000 labels, and Premier is quoted; label overages are $0.08. (free plan)

Questions and answers
Can I export my order and shipment history from ShipStation?
Yes, through the API and through plan-level data export. The API documentation lists endpoints to list orders, shipments, products and customers. Run the export before cancelling, because access ends once the account is closed.
How do I cancel ShipStation?
You cancel in your online account or by calling customer support. The terms say a monthly plan ended during the free trial is not charged, and one ended within 90 days is refunded the monthly fees, though not postage or insurance. Some plans carry restrictions or fees on cancelling.
Does ShipStation raise prices without warning?
No, the terms say ShipStation notifies you at least 30 days before a change to the recurring fee. You can cancel in your account settings 24 hours before the change takes effect. Plans renew automatically at the then-current fee.
What happens to the postage balance when I leave?
The terms we read cover refunds for unused or misprinted labels and do not describe withdrawing the prefunded balance. Funds are held in a pooled account managed by ShipStation and its parent. Ask support in writing before you close the account.
Can I keep my own carrier accounts after switching?
Usually, but the fee differs. Shippo connects them on every plan, at $0.05 a label on Starter and free on Pro. Sendcloud allows them from Lite, MyParcel needs the MyContracts add-on, Wuunder includes them on every plan, and Shipmondo charges an activation fee per customer number.
Is there a free alternative to ShipStation?
Yes, several. Veeqo's Shipping plan is free, Shippo Starter is free up to 30 labels a month, Easyship has a free-forever plan, and Sendcloud is free up to 20 parcels a month. EasyPost is free up to 3,000 labels on wallet carriers, and Packlink PRO is a free account.
Do the alternatives handle LTL freight like ShipStation?
Not on the pages we checked. ShipStation's comparison table lists LTL rate comparison, quoting and booking, while the pricing pages of the alternatives above do not. Sendify, also in this category, books pallets and containers, so a freight shipper should ask for a demo.
