Presenters look past Mentimeter when the free plan runs out at 50 participants a month, when results cannot be exported without paying, or when a team of presenters is billed per head. Most go to Slido or Poll Everywhere for a similar polling flow, or to AhaSlides and Sendsteps when cost is the driver.
Vendors can pay for more visibility on this website, for example a higher place in a ranking or more room on a page. Commercial relationships can also affect which products we feature and how prominently. Every vendor link is marked the same, whatever the arrangement behind it. The first three alternatives
go to challengers, vendors outside the best-known brands in a category, wherever the category has them; the
established names follow in their ranked order. How it works:
placement disclosure · editorial process.
What each alternative does differently
Built around audience questions that others upvote and a moderator ranks, which suits town halls and conferences. It sells one-time event plans next to annual and education plans, so a single event avoids a yearly term. Amounts load only with JavaScript, and the page offers a quote by email.
Switch from Mentimeter if you run one conference or town hall and want a one-time plan with moderated Q&A.

2. Poll Everywhere
United States
Prints every price on one page: Present at $10 a month for a 700-person audience, Engage at $49 with reporting and attendance management, Teams at $84 with branding removal. Reporting starts one step above Present. The interface is older than Mentimeter's slide look, and a second 2.0 interface runs beside the classic one.
Switch from Mentimeter if you lecture to hundreds and want a published price per audience size.
Official site → · Our Poll Everywhere review
Free for 50 live participants but with unlimited presentations a month, where Mentimeter counts 50 participants monthly. Adds a spinner wheel and sells monthly or yearly plans, with a 14-day refund if no live event was held. Paid amounts are not shown in the page text, and the company is in Singapore.
Switch from Mentimeter if you want monthly billing and a cheaper all-rounder for small groups.
Official site → · Our AhaSlides review
Starter is free with unlimited participants but only five questions a month. Basic adds PDF and Excel export and question import from Excel, Moodle and Brightspace, and Pro adds moderator mode. Corporate starts from six presenters and adds LMS links, so it suits universities and training teams more than keynotes.
Switch from Mentimeter if you teach or train and need LMS links, attendance records and many question types.

Centers anonymity: staff can submit questions and answers without a name, with Teams and PowerPoint add-ins and attendance tracking. Business and Education plans are listed, but the pricing pages we reached print no amounts. Upgrades from a free plan carry a 30-day full refund.
Switch from Mentimeter if you run staff meetings where anonymous questions matter and the office uses Microsoft 365.

The free plan allows unlimited participants and twenty-plus question types, but only two AI creations and two PowerPoint imports every 30 days. Starter and Professional are per user, Professional adds a moderator mode, and Campus or Enterprise is quoted and can switch AI off on request. Amounts are not shown.
Switch from Mentimeter if you have large rooms and want to try a live session with no participant cap.
Official site → · Our Sendsteps review
Aimed at facilitators who run a series of activities in one session. Plus is EUR 29 a license monthly or EUR 21 annually, Pro EUR 65 or EUR 49, so monthly billing is possible. The free plan gives 30 participants and three sessions a month, with PDF reports. Master sessions can be cloned for a second cohort.
Switch from Mentimeter if you facilitate workshops and want euro pricing you can pay month by month.
Official site → · Our Beekast review
Game-style quizzes with a leaderboard, sold on the business pricing page as Pro Start at $9 per month ($108 billed annually), Standard at $25 and Pro Plus at $39, with an Enterprise route by contact. Ready-made content and AI presentations are included, but the tone is competitive rather than a quiet poll.
Switch from Mentimeter if your sessions are quizzes and team rounds, not polls and word clouds.
Official site → · Our Kahoot! review
Polling sits beside visual boards and brainstorms in one suite. Starter is $24.90 per host per month billed annually and covers up to four Pro users; Enterprise starts at five. Participants join without a license. You pay for the whole collaboration product, which is more than a poll-only buyer needs.
Switch from Mentimeter if you want to vote on ideas collected on a board in the same tool.
Official site → · Our Klaxoon review
One room, one code, auto-marked quizzes. Free covers one room and 50 students; Essentials is $10 per seat a month ($120 annually) with 5 rooms; Pro raises limits to 300 students per activity. It targets teachers, and it has no word cloud or moderated Q&A comparable to Mentimeter's.
Switch from Mentimeter if you are a teacher who wants marked quizzes and exit tickets for a class.

11. Nearpod
United States
Questions sit inside full lessons that students follow on their own devices. Silver is free with 40 student joins per session, Gold is $159 a year for 75, Platinum $397 for 90, with school and district licenses quoted. Priced per teacher per year, so it does not fit conference or company use.
Switch from Mentimeter if you teach school lessons and want questions embedded in slides, videos and activities.

12. Pear Deck
United States
An add-on for Google Slides that puts questions on slides and shows each student's answer on a teacher dashboard. Teacher Free is $0 and Teacher Premium is $149 a year with the educator discount; assessment is a separate product. It follows Google Classroom and Slides, not open audiences or PowerPoint.
Switch from Mentimeter if your teachers already build lessons in Google Slides and use Google Classroom.

Questions and answers
Can I export my results from Mentimeter?
Yes, on paid plans: results download as an XLSX file from the results page, and Basic, Pro and Enterprise include it. The Free plan has no Excel export. The file has a Voters tab and one tab per session, and Menti Live can also be saved as PDF or slide images.
Can I export my slides and questions?
Only as PDF or images, not as a question bank. The help center describes a PDF of all slides or chosen slides, and screenshots per slide, for paid plans. Nothing it lists moves questions into another audience tool, so plan to retype or copy them.
How do I cancel Mentimeter?
By email to hello@mentimeter.com, according to the terms. You can end the subscription at any time, but already paid fees are not repaid and fees for the full subscription period stay due. Termination follows your confirmation that all your data, including user data, is deleted.
Is there a refund if I switch right after buying?
Yes, a full refund for Basic or Pro if you cancel within 14 days of the initiation day. Ask in writing at hello@mentimeter.com; the terms promise the refund within 14 days of registering the request. It does not apply at the start of a later billing period.
Will the price change at renewal?
It can: Mentimeter reserves the right to change subscription prices, never retroactively. The terms say it emails you 30 days before any automatic charge, and if you do not cancel before the new period, you are renewed at the new price.
Do I have to pay for a whole year?
Yes in general: the terms set a twelve-month subscription period, paid upfront, unless otherwise agreed. Invoice and bank transfer can change the payment date. A single event is better served by a tool with monthly or one-time plans.
Where does Mentimeter keep my data?
With AWS, according to its trust pages, encrypted in transit with TLS 1.2 or higher and at rest with AES-256. The pages state an ISO 27001 management system. The country of the data center is not stated there, so ask in writing if your file needs it.
