Constant Contact alternatives: 12 compared

Small-business and nonprofit senders look past Constant Contact when a list is small enough for someone else's free plan, when automation limits bite, or when contact-based tiers cost more than a rival's for the same list. Most go to MailerLite, Brevo or Kit, or to Mailchimp and ActiveCampaign.

Short answer: The closest replacements for Constant Contact in our email marketing software ranking are MailerLite, Brevo and Mailchimp. Choose MailerLite if you want a modern editor, automations and a free start for a small list. All 12 alternatives below are ranked products from Best Email Marketing Software in 2026, and each says where it differs from Constant Contact and when Constant Contact is still the better choice.

Visibility in our rankings can be paid for. Payment moves a vendor's position within the shortlist; it never adds a vendor, and it never changes a word of the review or of this page. How it works: placement disclosure · editorial process.

Why buyers look past Constant Contact

  1. Free plans elsewhere are larger

Kit's Free plan allows up to 10,000 subscribers and EmailOctopus Free allows 2,500, while Brevo advertises a free plan with no card. Our ranking page lists Constant Contact as trial-only, so a small list pays here what other senders give away.

  2. Billing follows the contact count

Our ranking page lists Constant Contact tiers by contact count. AWeber, Mailchimp and ActiveCampaign work the same way, so compare price per tier at your list size. Brevo bills mainly by email volume, and EmailOctopus Pro lists a flat entry price.

  3. Automation limits are worth checking

Brevo Standard lists unlimited multi-step workflows and ActiveCampaign Plus and above remove its action cap, while AWeber Lite allows 3 automations. We could not load Constant Contact's plan sheet, so check its limits against these figures.

When Constant Contact is still the right choice

Stay if the person sending your mail values human help and event tools over automation depth, and your list fits the tier you pay for. Our ranking page places Constant Contact with local businesses and nonprofits for that reason. Confirm on its own site that those features are in your plan before deciding.

What to expect when you switch from Constant Contact

  1. Export contacts by list, segment or tag

Constant Contact's API documentation describes a CSV export of all contacts or a filter by up to 50 lists, one segment or tags, with the contact fields you choose. Run the export before cancelling and keep unsubscribes and bounces, so suppressed addresses are not mailed again.

  2. Rebuild campaigns in the new tool

The export covers contact fields, not templates or automations. Re-create forms, re-verify your sending domain and test the first campaign. Omnisend, Kit and AWeber each advertise free migration help on their own sites, so ask what it covers.

Questions and answers

Can I export my contacts from Constant Contact?

Yes, its API documentation describes a CSV export of all contacts or a filtered set by list, segment or tag. We could not load its in-app help pages, so check the current screen path before you start.

Which alternatives offer free migration?

Omnisend says its team moves contacts, data and segments, Kit lists free migrations, and AWeber lists a free account migration service. Each pricing page describes what is covered, so ask before you sign.

Which alternatives have a permanent free plan?

MailerLite, Brevo, Kit, Mailchimp, Omnisend, Klaviyo, EmailOctopus, beehiiv and Campaign Monitor list free plans on their own pages, with different caps. GetResponse, AWeber and ActiveCampaign list trials.

Does anyone else offer phone support?

Brevo lists phone support on its Professional plan. Omnisend lists 24/7 live chat and email on every plan, Kit lists 24/7 email and chat on Creator, and AWeber lists 24/7 support. Check which tier carries it.

Is there a nonprofit discount elsewhere?

EmailOctopus says all nonprofits get a 20 percent lifetime discount. Ask other vendors directly, as their pricing pages did not state one when we checked.

Will my automations transfer?

No, plan to rebuild them. The API export covers contact data, so welcome series and event reminders are recreated in the new tool and tested before the old account closes.
