Klaviyo alternatives: 11 compared

Stores look past Klaviyo when profile-based billing outgrows revenue, when SMS and email are priced as separate plans, or when they only need email and flows. Most move to Omnisend or Brevo for ecommerce, to MailerLite or Kit for a cheaper sender, or to ActiveCampaign for deeper automation.

Short answer: The closest replacements for Klaviyo in our email marketing software ranking are Omnisend, Brevo and ActiveCampaign. Choose Omnisend if you run an online store and want ecommerce flows with a migration team doing the rebuild. All 11 alternatives below are ranked products from Best Email Marketing Software in 2026, and each says where it differs from Klaviyo and when Klaviyo is still the better choice.

Visibility in our rankings can be paid for. Payment moves a vendor's position within the shortlist; it never adds a vendor, and it never changes a word of the review or of this page. How it works: placement disclosure · editorial process.

Why buyers look past Klaviyo

  1. Billing follows active profiles

Klaviyo's free plan stops at 250 active profiles and 500 email sends a month, and its pricing page says sending can be paused above either limit. Paid tiers are chosen from the active profile count, so list growth moves the bill.

  2. Email and SMS are separate plans

Klaviyo's help center describes email and profiles, SMS and Reviews as plans that can be cancelled one at a time. The free plan includes only $5 of mobile messages a month, so a store that texts customers should price both parts.

  3. The product has grown beyond email

The pricing page now lists Composer usage, a Customer Agent and a Helpdesk beside email, SMS and analytics. A team that only wants campaigns and flows may prefer a narrower tool with a simpler plan sheet.

When Klaviyo is still the right choice

Stay on Klaviyo if purchase history drives your segments and flows and the revenue per message justifies the plan. The free plan covers 250 active profiles, which suits a store that is still testing. A catalog-heavy brand with email and SMS working together has the least to gain from a generic sender.

What to expect when you switch from Klaviyo

  1. Export lists and segments as CSV

Klaviyo exports any list or segment to CSV, limited to Owner, Admin and Analyst roles, and files stay in Settings, Other, Downloads for 30 days. Event data, messages received and list membership cannot be exported, so decide what history you need before the plan ends.

  2. Rebuild flows, then close the account

Klaviyo's migration guide covers suppression lists, SMS consent timestamps, template HTML, number porting and removing the onsite tracking snippets. Flows are set to draft, not deleted, because deleted flows cannot be recovered. Test the new flows before cancelling.

Questions and answers

Can I export my contacts from Klaviyo?

Yes, Klaviyo exports any list or segment as CSV, and everyone in the account can be exported by creating a segment of all profiles. Only Owner, Admin and Analyst users can export, and the file is kept for 30 days.

What does Klaviyo not export?

Event data, predicted gender, list or segment membership and messages a profile received are not included in a list CSV. Predictive analytics fields export only when the account meets the predictive analytics qualifications, so keep your own reports of what matters.

Do I need to export my SMS consent records?

Yes, Klaviyo recommends exporting the SMS consent timestamp and phone number for each contact and uploading them to the new provider. Your number must be ported by the new SMS provider if you want to keep it.

Can I keep using Klaviyo for email and drop SMS?

Yes, the help center says email and SMS plans can be cancelled one at a time. Each flow must then be checked and have its SMS or email steps removed or set to Draft.

Are there free options if my list is small?

Yes, Klaviyo, MailerLite, Omnisend, Kit, EmailOctopus, Brevo, Mailchimp, Campaign Monitor and beehiiv list free plans on their own pricing pages, with different caps. GetResponse, AWeber and ActiveCampaign list trials instead.

Is Klaviyo's free plan enough for a new store?

It can be, up to 250 active profiles and 500 email sends a month, plus $5 of mobile messages. Once either limit is exceeded, sending can be paused, and email support on the free plan covers the first 60 days.
