Teams look past Attentive when they cannot see a price before a sales call, or when a bill that follows list size and sends outgrows a store's revenue from text. Most move to Postscript or Klaviyo for ecommerce texting, and to SimpleTexting, EZ Texting or Textedly when published monthly tiers matter more than journeys.
Visibility in our rankings can be paid for. Payment moves a vendor's position within
the shortlist; it never adds a vendor, and it never changes a word of the review or of this page. The first three alternatives
go to challengers, vendors outside the best-known brands in a category, wherever the category has them; the
established names follow in their ranked order. How it works:
placement disclosure · editorial process.
What each alternative does differently
1. Postscript
SMS and RCS retention marketing for Shopify stores · United States
Built around Shopify stores, with published tiers and per-message rates. Its pricing page says there are no profile fees, no prepaid balances and no required contract, and carrier fees appear on their own line. Email launched recently and the page still shows a waitlist for it.
Switch from Attentive if you run a Shopify store and want per-message rates you can read before talking to sales.
Pricing: Usage-based: a $0 Starter base at $0.009 per SMS, $100 Growth at $0.008, $500 Professional at $0.007; a 30-day $100 messaging credit serves as the trial. (free trial)

2. Klaviyo
Ecommerce CRM with email and mobile messaging · United States
A customer platform where SMS is one channel next to email, RCS, WhatsApp, mobile app and social. It also sells a helpdesk and analytics on the same customer profile. Scope is wider than Attentive's messaging focus, so a team that only texts will use little of it.
Switch from Attentive if you want email, SMS and customer data in one profile and a free tier to start on.
Pricing: A free plan includes 250 active profiles and $5 of mobile messages a month; since July 2026 mobile messaging is billed in dollars per message by channel and region rather than credits. (free plan)

3. Omnisend
Email and SMS flows for online stores · Lithuania
Email-led, with SMS added as Global SMS credits on the Pro plan, not on lower tiers. The vendor offers a free migration within five days that moves flows, lists, segments and templates, and lists more than 305 integrations. Texting is secondary to email here.
Switch from Attentive if you want email as the main channel and SMS added for a subset of campaigns.
Pricing: Free plan with 500 emails and 250 contacts; paid plans from $11.20 a month; SMS is a separate credit add-on from $0.009 down to $0.007 per message at volume. (free plan)

4. SimpleTexting
Plain bulk and two-way texting for non-technical teams · United States
Plain bulk and two-way texting, sold in monthly credit plans with three users included and $20 a month per extra user. There is a 30-day refund window and rollover credits. Integrations run through Mailchimp and Zapier, so storefront-triggered journeys take more work than on Attentive.
Switch from Attentive if you send announcements and replies to a list and do not need shopper-triggered journeys.
Pricing: Plans are sized by monthly message credits and number type, starting around $39 a month billed yearly for 500 credits plus a local number; extra credits are 5.5 cents each. (free trial)

5. EZ Texting
Subscription SMS with published tiers · United States
Subscription tiers with one user included and 500 monthly credits at each of the first three tiers. Higher tiers waive the telecom fee, Scale adds an onboarding specialist, and Enterprise setup is quoted at four to twelve weeks. It has a page for migrating in and supports RCS.
Switch from Attentive if you want a team inbox and published tiers, and do not sell mainly through an online store.
Pricing: Launch $20 a month billed annually ($25 monthly), Boost $60, Scale $100, Enterprise $3,000; each plan includes 500 monthly credits, with overage at $0.01 to $0.04 per credit. (free trial)

6. Textedly
Keyword-driven texting at flat message tiers · United States
Every plan has every feature and only message volume and keywords change, so there is no module to buy. Inbound messages are free, there are no long-term contracts, and the vendor pays the registration fee for your first 10DLC number. Shopify is among its listed integrations.
Switch from Attentive if you want one feature set at every price and a plan chosen only by monthly message count.
Pricing: Tiered by monthly message volume from $29 for 500 messages up to $5,520 for 300,000; all plans carry the same features, extra teammates are $10 a month. (free trial)

7. Brevo
Email-led marketing suite with prepaid SMS · France
A marketing suite that starts from email, with SMS credits sold separately from plans. WhatsApp, popups and push come with the Professional plan, and a sales CRM sits alongside. A free plan exists. It suits mixed email and text programs, not heavy SMS volume with journeys built around it.
Switch from Attentive if your main channel is email and you want texting, WhatsApp and a CRM in the same account.
Pricing: SMS credits are bought in packs of 100 that do not expire, from $0.0109 per message credit in the US; the credit count per message depends on destination and length. (free plan)

10. Bird
Multichannel messaging and CRM billed by usage · Netherlands
Now presented as communications infrastructure for developers: SMS, email, WhatsApp, Apple Messages and voice through APIs, each billed by usage. We saw no ecommerce journey builder or storefront integration on its pricing or home pages. Your engineers would assemble what Attentive supplies as a marketing product.
Switch from Attentive if your engineers want to build messaging themselves and pay by usage per channel.

Questions and answers
How much does Attentive cost?
Attentive publishes no price. Its pricing page says cost depends on message volume, subscriber list size, number of channels and the AI products chosen. The entry point is a demo request, so any figure comes from a quote, not from the site.
Can I export my subscriber list from Attentive?
Ask your client strategy manager, because we found no bulk subscriber export in the public docs index. The API reference lists per-user endpoints to subscribe, check eligibility and unsubscribe. The SFTP feeds carry events and conversions, not a subscriber file.
How long can I download Attentive event data?
Files in the SFTP data feeds are purged after 30 days, according to Attentive's developer docs. Feeds are delivered nightly by 10:00 UTC in an assigned folder. Set them up early and copy the files to your own storage before you leave.
Is there a free Attentive plan?
No. The pricing page offers free trials through a request form and lists no free plan. Free or low-entry options elsewhere include Klaviyo, which has a free plan with $5 of mobile messages a month, and Textedly, which gives 50 free texts and one keyword.
How much notice does Attentive need to cancel?
We could not verify it. The terms page on attentive.com is the website terms of use, a contract for visitors to the site, and it does not set customer notice periods. Check the order form or master agreement you signed for the term and notice.
Do I lose my subscribers' consent if I switch?
Not if you keep the opt-in records, but the new platform needs them. Export timestamps, sign-up source and the disclosure text shown, together with the opt-outs. Attentive's docs say programmatic opt-ins require a legal disclosure, so assume your records must show it.
Which alternatives publish a price?
Postscript, Textedly, SimpleTexting, EZ Texting, Omnisend, Klaviyo and Brevo show prices on their sites, while Podium and CM.com's campaign product are sold through sales. Textedly starts at $29 a month and EZ Texting at $20 billed annually, as of 22 October 2026.
