Jotform alternatives: 11 compared

Teams look past Jotform when plan limits on submissions and storage start to bite, when the price is hard to read from the page, or when they want a free tier without Jotform branding. Most move to Tally, Fillout or Paperform, larger teams to Typeform or Formstack.

Short answer: The closest replacements for Jotform in our form builders ranking are Tally, Fillout and Paperform. Choose Tally if you want unlimited submissions on a free tier and a flat monthly price per workspace. We took the other 10 from the Best Form Builders in 2026 ranking too, and each is compared with Jotform alone, noting where staying put is the better call.

Vendors can pay for more visibility on this website, for example a higher place in a ranking or more room on a page. Commercial relationships can also affect which products we feature and how prominently. Every vendor link is marked the same, whatever the arrangement behind it. The first three alternatives go to challengers, vendors outside the best-known brands in a category, wherever the category has them; the established names follow in their ranked order. How it works: placement disclosure · editorial process.

Why buyers look past Jotform

  1. Limits sit on every plan, and overage deletes data

Jotform meters submissions, form views, payments, signed documents, upload space and total stored submissions. Its pricing FAQ says that if you exceed total submission storage, the oldest response is deleted to make room. You must download and purge old entries yourself to avoid losing data.

  2. Branding and multiple users sit behind the upper plans

Forms built on the free Starter plan carry Jotform branding until you pay. The FAQ also calls Enterprise the only multiuser plan, with custom domains and single sign-on listed there. A team that wants shared editing therefore moves to a quote-based plan.

  3. No trial, and discounts end at renewal

Jotform says there is no trial period for paid plans, only the free Starter plan. Its sale discounts apply only when upgrading to a higher yearly tier, and plans renew at full price in the next period. The readable page text names tiers but no amounts.

When Jotform is still the right choice

Stay with Jotform if the free Starter plan covers your volume, since it lists standard features such as payment integrations and widgets. It also fits when you need HIPAA features, which the pricing page puts on Gold and Enterprise, or want signing, apps and tables from one vendor. Paid plans carry a 30-day money-back guarantee.

What to expect when you switch from Jotform

  1. Download submissions and files first

Jotform's export feature page says forms download as HTML files and submissions as CSV, Excel and PDF, with uploaded files saved in a single zip. Do this before you downgrade or purge, because over-limit accounts lose the oldest responses first.

  2. Rebuild forms, logic and embeds

The HTML download is a copy of the form, not an import file for another builder, so expect to recreate fields, conditional logic, payment connections and PDF layouts by hand. Replace each embed code on your site, and note which forms point at Stripe or PayPal.

Questions and answers

How do I export my data from Jotform?

Download submissions as CSV, Excel or PDF, and uploaded files as one zip, from your submissions page. Jotform's export feature page also lists forms as HTML files. Exports carry the answer table and files, not a form definition another builder can import.

How much does Jotform cost?

The pricing page lists Starter (free), Bronze, Silver, Gold and custom Enterprise plans, but its readable text gives no amounts for the paid tiers. Check the live page in your own browser. Nonprofits and schools can apply for a 50 percent discount on Bronze, Silver and Gold.

Can I cancel Jotform and get a refund?

Yes, you can change or cancel at any time, and a cancellation within 30 days of payment gets a full refund through support. Subscriptions renew automatically each month or year unless you cancel, so cancel before the renewal date.

What happens to my submissions if I hit my Jotform limits?

Jotform emails you and warns on the dashboard, and if total submission storage is exceeded it deletes the oldest response to make room. Upgrade, or download and purge old entries first. A downgrade can leave you over the lower limits.

Does Jotform store data in the EU?

Jotform offers EU Safe Forms, which keeps data of European users on servers in Germany. Jotform Inc. lists its head office in San Francisco. A switch to an EU-based tool such as Tally or 123FormBuilder is a supplier change, not only a hosting change.

Is there a Jotform alternative with a free plan?

Yes, Tally, Fillout, Paperform, Zoho Forms, Formsite and 123FormBuilder list free plans, each with different limits. Tally allows unlimited submissions, Fillout 1,000 responses a month, Paperform 30 submissions a month, and Zoho Forms 500 submissions a month.
