Deel alternatives: 13 compared

Buyers look past Deel when the $599 per-employee EOR fee is the main cost of a small international team, when they want fewer products to pay for, or when they want a provider that owns its entities in the countries they hire in. Most compare Rivermate, RemoFirst and Playroll on price, and Oyster, Remote or Atlas HXM on support.

Short answer: The closest replacements for Deel in our employer of record services ranking are Rivermate, RemoFirst and Playroll. Choose Rivermate if you want a lower published EOR rate and a named account manager. All 13 alternatives below are ranked products from Best Employer of Record Services in 2026, and each says where it differs from Deel and when Deel is still the better choice.

Visibility in our rankings can be paid for. Payment moves a vendor's position within the shortlist; it never adds a vendor, and it never changes a word of the review or of this page. The first three alternatives go to challengers, vendors outside the best-known brands in a category, wherever the category has them; the established names follow in their ranked order. Facts from our employer of record services ranking, last checked October 27, 2026.

Why buyers look past Deel

  1. The EOR fee sets a high floor

Deel lists its employer of record service from $599 per employee per month. Four providers in this category publish a lower entry price: RemoFirst and Skuad from $199, Rivermate from $349 and Playroll from $399. Small teams with a handful of hires feel the gap first.

  2. One platform, many product lines

Deel's pricing page is organized around hiring, contractors, employees, management, pay and equipment, with a bundle option. Companies that only need an employer of record for a few people pay for a platform built for much wider use, and compare it with specialist EOR providers.

  3. Promotional terms carry conditions

The current offer of three free months of PEO applies to order forms with a minimum two-year term, credited at the end of the term. The same page says that ending the order early means paying the full list price for the whole term, promotional credit included. Read order forms before comparing.

When Deel is still the right choice

Staying with Deel is reasonable when you employ people in several countries and also pay contractors, run a US PEO or use its payroll and HR tools, since consolidating those lines in one system is its stated design. It also fits teams that need coverage in countries where smaller EOR providers rely on partners. The pricing page describes month-to-month terms with no long-term commitment, so waiting costs little.

What to expect when you switch from Deel

  1. An EOR move is a re-hire

Oyster describes an EOR switch as ending the current employment contracts and onboarding the team with the new provider, and quotes four to twelve weeks. Atlas HXM says it coordinates with the outgoing provider and prepares new contracts. Plan for employee consent and local notice rules in each country.

  2. Contractor of record contracts change hands

With Deel's Contractor of Record, Deel holds the contract. Moving to another provider's equivalent means a new contract with each person, while a plain contractor-management setup keeps the contract with you. Check which of the two you have before planning the move.

  3. Do not cancel before the new entity is ready

Deel states that local labor laws apply to EOR cancellations, including notice and severance. Overlap the old and new arrangements for at least the notice period, and agree who pays final-month payroll. Early exits from promotional PEO order forms are charged at list price.

Questions and answers

Can I cancel Deel at any time?

Yes for the standard terms: Deel's pricing page describes month-to-month pricing with no long-term commitment and cancellation at any time. For EOR employees, local labor law still applies to notice and severance. Promotional PEO order forms carry a minimum two-year term and repayment of the credit if you leave early.

How long does it take to move EOR employees to another provider?

Oyster, which sells a migration service, says most moves take 4 to 12 weeks depending on headcount, countries and current setup. Atlas HXM runs a similar service with a three-step plan. Treat vendor timelines as estimates and ask each provider to map a date for every country.

Do my employees need new contracts when I leave Deel?

Yes, because the legal employer changes. Oyster and Atlas HXM both describe the switch as ending existing employment contracts and preparing new ones with the new provider. Your own contractor-management contracts do not change, but Contractor of Record agreements held by Deel do.

Which Deel alternatives publish their EOR price?

Most do. On their own pages RemoFirst and Skuad list $199, Rivermate $349, Playroll $399, Papaya Global and RemotePeople $499, Lano 499 euros, Remote, G-P and Atlas HXM $599 and Oyster USD 699. Pebl and Safeguard Global publish no EOR price on the pages we read.

Does the EOR provider own its local entities?

It varies, and it is the question to ask each vendor. Atlas HXM says it owns its entities in 160+ countries, Rivermate states 38 owned entities, Pebl says 90 percent of its employees sit in owned entities, and Skuad says own and partner entities in 160+ countries. Deel says it owns entities and its payroll engine in 130+ countries.

Are contractors cheaper elsewhere than on Deel?

On published entry prices, yes. Deel lists contractor management from $49 per contractor per month. Remote lists $29, Oyster USD 29, G-P USD 39, Skuad $19 and Lano 19 euros, and RemoFirst has a free contractor tier. Features, currencies and indemnity differ, so compare the contract model, not only the price.

Is there a US PEO alternative to Deel?

Yes. Deel lists a US PEO from $125 per employee per month. Remote lists a PEO from $99 and RemotePeople a US PEO from $99 per month, though Remote's PEO is billed in USD and requires a US bank account. Check state coverage and benefits before replacing it.
