Teams look past Auth0 when the monthly-active-user meter climbs, when enterprise MFA and extra SSO connections are priced as add-ons, or when they want to run identity on their own infrastructure. Most go to Keycloak for self-hosting, to WorkOS or Frontegg for B2B SaaS, or to Microsoft Entra External ID inside an Azure estate.
Visibility in our rankings can be paid for. Payment moves a vendor's position within
the shortlist; it never adds a vendor, and it never changes a word of the review or of this page. How it works:

What each alternative does differently
1. Keycloak
Open-source identity provider you run yourself · United States
Open source under the Apache 2.0 licence and a CNCF incubation project, so there is no vendor tenant and no per-user meter. Your team runs upgrades, scaling and backups. It covers SSO, identity brokering for OIDC and SAML providers, LDAP and Active Directory federation, and fine-grained authorization.
Switch from Auth0 if you can operate identity infrastructure yourself and want to leave a per-user meter.
Pricing: Free to self-host under the Apache 2.0 license; Red Hat sells a supported commercial variant (Red Hat build of Keycloak) for enterprises wanting a support contract, priced separately by Red Hat. (open source)

2. WorkOS
Enterprise-readiness API for software companies · United States
Built for B2B SaaS that sells to enterprises. AuthKit handles email and password, social login, passkeys and MFA, while enterprise SSO and directory sync are billed per customer connection, so identity cost tracks the number of business customers rather than end users. A custom domain is a separate monthly line.
Switch from Auth0 if you sell to businesses and want SSO cost to follow customer connections, not end users.
Pricing: User management (AuthKit) free for the first 1 million monthly active users; SSO and Directory Sync priced per connection, from $125/connection/month down to $65 above 50 connections; Audit Logs and Radar fraud checks priced separately. (free plan)

3. Frontegg
User management and CIAM for SaaS builders · Israel
Aimed at multi-tenant SaaS products. Unlimited organizations, hierarchical tenants, a hosted login you can fully restyle and a self-service enterprise connection setup sit in the pay-as-you-go tier. Enterprise adds relationship-based access control, feature flags and subscription management, which Auth0 does not bundle.
Switch from Auth0 if your product is multi-tenant and you want tenant hierarchy and entitlements built into the identity layer.
Pricing: Tiered SaaS pricing starting with a free developer tier, then paid plans scaling by monthly active users and enterprise features; exact current tier pricing is not fully published. (free plan)

4. Microsoft Entra ID
Microsoft's bundled identity platform, formerly Azure AD · United States
The relevant product is Microsoft Entra External ID, a separate external tenant for customer apps, not the workforce directory. It supports OIDC and SAML apps, user flows, custom authentication extensions and email or SMS second factors. Custom sign-in domains run through Azure Front Door. Azure AD B2C closed to new buyers on May 1, 2025.
Switch from Auth0 if your apps already run on Azure and you want customer sign-in under the same Microsoft contract.
Pricing: A free tier is included with any Microsoft 365, Azure, Dynamics 365 or Power Platform subscription; paid tiers add Entra ID P1 at $7/user/month and P2 at $10/user/month, also bundled into Microsoft 365 Business Premium and E3/E5. (free plan)

5. Ping Identity
Enterprise identity platform, now including ForgeRock · United States
Enterprise-scale customer identity with no-code orchestration, SSO, registration policies and SCIM, OAuth, OpenID Connect and SAML APIs. Adaptive MFA, device management and transaction approvals begin only on the Plus plan. Both plans are annual contracts with fixed pricing, not metered by user, so small audiences gain little.
Switch from Auth0 if you run a large, regulated customer base and want fixed annual pricing with orchestration.
Pricing: PingOne for Workforce: Essential $3/user/month, Plus $6/user/month, both requiring an annual contract with a 5,000-user minimum; PingOne for Customers starts around $35,000/year for Essential and $50,000/year for Plus; a 30-day free trial is available on both lines. (free trial)

6. miniOrange
Budget SSO and MFA for niche app integrations · India
A broad identity catalog rather than a developer-first login service: SSO, adaptive MFA, user lifecycle management, privileged access and governance sit in one vendor's range. Cloud is the primary offering, with on-premise and hybrid deployments available. Expect to do more integration and configuration yourself than with Auth0.
Switch from Auth0 if you want one vendor for login, MFA and governance and need an on-premise or hybrid option.
Pricing: Workforce IAM list prices per user per month: Essential (SSO and MFA) $2, Premium (adds passwordless, adaptive authentication and SCIM) $3, Enterprise quote-only, with unlimited SSO connections and billing on monthly active users; a 30-day full-feature trial. Separate CIAM plans start free, then from $49/month for 500 users. (free trial)

7. Okta
The most widely integrated workforce identity platform · United States
Okta's workforce suite, from the company that owns Auth0, covers employee SSO, MFA, a universal directory and workflows. It is sold separately from Auth0, so moving here solves employee access, not customer-facing login. Plans are billed annually with a contract minimum, and higher tiers are quoted.
Switch from Auth0 if the real need is employee single sign-on and lifecycle management, not customer login.
Pricing: Per-user monthly tiers billed annually: Starter $6/user/month, Core Essentials $14, Essentials $17, with Professional and Enterprise quote-only; a $1,500 annual contract minimum applies. (free trial)

8. JumpCloud
One console for directory, SSO, MFA and devices · United States
An employee-facing directory with SSO, MFA and device management, sold as separate modules or bundles. It has no customer-registration or social-login product for apps you publish. Choose it when the users are staff on managed laptops, and be ready to price each module on its own.
Switch from Auth0 if the people signing in are employees and you also want device management from the same vendor.
Pricing: Per-user module pricing: Device Management $9/user/month, SSO $11, Device Identity Management $13 (annual billing, each roughly 18-22% higher monthly), plus a la carte add-ons from $3-5/user/month; a 30-day free trial, no permanent free plan. (free trial)

9. Cisco Duo
Multi-factor authentication, now a Cisco product line · United States
Starts from multi-factor authentication and device trust rather than from an authentication API. Single sign-on, the Duo Directory and passwordless access begin on the Essentials edition, and VPN-less remote access on Premier. It protects workforce logins to existing apps and does not host customer sign-up flows.
Switch from Auth0 if you only need strong MFA and SSO in front of employee apps, not a customer login service.
Pricing: Duo Free: $0/user/month for up to 10 users; Essentials $3/user/month, Advantage $6/user/month, Premier $9/user/month; a 30-day free trial is available on all paid editions. (free plan)

10. CyberArk (Idira)
Privileged-access platform, now under Palo Alto Networks · Israel
Now Idira, owned by Palo Alto Networks and built on CyberArk's legacy. It covers privileged access management, identity governance, endpoint privilege and secrets management, including machine and AI-agent identities. It is an identity security platform for protecting accounts, not a customer login service for your own product.
Switch from Auth0 if your actual problem is privileged accounts, secrets and governance rather than app authentication.
Pricing: Quote-only enterprise pricing, priced by identity/credential volume and modules; no published self-serve tiers. (none)

11. Delinea
Privileged access management, formed from a 2021 merger · United States
A privileged access management vendor. Secret Server vaults credentials and records sessions, Privilege Manager controls rights on endpoints, and the Delinea Platform adds identity protection for people, machines and AI agents. It runs cloud-native with on-premises options and does not replace an authentication service for end users.
Switch from Auth0 if you are choosing a vault and session control for admin credentials, not a login layer for customers.
Pricing: Quote-only enterprise pricing, standard for privileged access management; no published self-serve tiers, but a 30-day trial with full platform access. (free trial)
