Best E-Invoicing Software in 2026

The short answer

  1. #1 Billit: Invoicing portal with a built-in Peppol access point. Best for: Small firms in Belgium and neighbors.
  2. #2 B2Brouter: E-invoicing portal and API from Barcelona. Best for: Small firms and software builders.
  3. #3 Qvalia: Peppol platform with APIs for invoices and orders. Best for: Peppol senders wanting API and published plans.

Vendors can pay for more visibility on this website, for example a higher place in a ranking or more room on a page. Commercial relationships can also affect which products we feature and how prominently. Every vendor link is marked the same, whatever the arrangement behind it. The largest vendors in e-invoicing software cannot hold places 1 to 3. Places 1 to 3 go to challengers, vendors outside the best-known brands in a category, wherever the category has them; the established names follow from place 4 in their ranked order. How it works: placement disclosure · editorial process.

The 13 tools, reviewed

#1 Billit

Invoicing portal with a built-in Peppol access point · Belgium · billit.eu

Published prices Peppol Ghent

Billit is a Ghent-based invoicing platform in which Peppol is part of the subscription, not an extra. The pricing page counts every invoice, credit note or receipt sent or received as one document, and all features come with each package, so a freelancer and a growing company use the same product at different volumes.

  • Pricing: Per documents / month. Tiers by documents per month: up to 25 from EUR 7.50, up to 500 at EUR 25, up to 1,000 at EUR 250, above that on request. Free plan: free trial.
  • Best for: Small firms in Belgium and neighbors
  • Strengths: Peppol access point; Invoices, credit notes and quotes; Receipt and purchase invoice scanning.

Where it falls short

Billit's strength is the Peppol route, and its public pages say little about clearance regimes outside it. The 1,000-document tier is listed at EUR 250 per month, a steep step from the EUR 25 tier below it.

Wrong for

A multinational that must clear invoices with tax authorities in Italy, Poland or Latin America should look at Tradeshift, EDICOM or Fonoa instead.

#2 B2Brouter

E-invoicing portal and API from Barcelona · Spain · b2brouter.net

Free tier Peppol White-label API

B2Brouter is a Barcelona company, founded in 2003 according to its about page, that sells the same engine three ways: a web portal, ERP connectors and a white-label API for software vendors.

  • Pricing: Per year + free tier. Basic plan free with 24 transactions per year. Free plan: free plan.
  • Best for: Small firms and software builders
  • Strengths: Web application for e-invoices; Peppol access point; Plateforme Agréée in France.

Where it falls short

The web plans allow 1, 2 and 10 users, so a larger finance team reaches the ceiling quickly. Legal archiving appears only on the Business plan.

Wrong for

A company with hundreds of users and clearance obligations in a dozen countries should compare Pagero, Tradeshift or EDICOM.

Visit B2Brouter →

#3 Qvalia

Peppol platform with APIs for invoices and orders · Sweden · qvalia.com

ISO 27001 Peppol AP EU data

Qvalia is a Stockholm company that runs a Peppol access point and a service metadata publisher, and sells them through a web app, APIs or SFTP. Three monthly Connect plans carry a price and a message cap, so a small sender can budget without a call.

  • Pricing: Per messages / month. Connect Small EUR 9 per month for 25 messages, Medium EUR 39 for 100, Large EUR 99 for 1,000; Enterprise on request. Free plan: none.
  • Best for: Peppol senders wanting API and published plans
  • Strengths: Peppol access point and SMP; Invoicing API; Order API.

Where it falls short

The comparison table shows that receiving and reviewing e-invoices is not included in the Small and Medium plans, only in Large, which surprises a buyer who expects a two-way service. Message caps are low at 25 and 100.

Wrong for

A business that must report invoices to a tax authority in real time, or one that wants a free plan, should check Pagero, Fonoa or B2Brouter.

Visit Qvalia →

#4 Storecove

One API for Peppol and national e-invoicing frameworks · Netherlands · storecove.com

API 31 countries Sandbox

Storecove is an API-first provider whose pitch is that the sender submits a standard invoice and Storecove handles the format, the network and the delivery. The site states coverage in 31 countries and ten offices, a Peppol route, and links to networks such as DBNAlliance in the United States, FACeB2B and Finvoice.

  • Pricing: Quote only. No prices on the pages we read; a 30-day sandbox is offered and the rest goes through a demo. Free plan: free trial.
  • Best for: Software vendors adding invoicing
  • Strengths: E-invoicing API; Peppol access point; Enveloped Mode.

Where it falls short

Storecove publishes no price, so an integrator has to ask before it can model margin. The product is a back end, with no invoicing screen for a bookkeeper.

Wrong for

A small company that wants to log in, type an invoice and send it should use Billit, B2Brouter or Qvalia, which put a portal in front of the network.

Visit Storecove →

#5 ONESOURCE Pagero

E-invoicing network and compliance, part of Thomson Reuters · Sweden · pagero.com

Thomson Reuters Network Free tier

ONESOURCE Pagero is now sold under the Thomson Reuters name, and the pagero.com address redirects to Thomson Reuters Europe. The network page says it connects to regulated infrastructures in a long list of countries and that Pagero is an accredited Peppol service provider wherever Peppol is implemented. Interoperability partners named on the site include Basware, Cegid and Comarch.

  • Pricing: Free tier + quote. ONESOURCE Pagero Free allows up to 36 documents a year before fees may apply; other plans are not priced on the pages we read. Free plan: free plan.
  • Best for: Groups needing network reach and compliance
  • Strengths: Pagero Network; Peppol service provider; Regulated infrastructure connections.

Where it falls short

The brand now sits inside Thomson Reuters, so the old pagero.com address no longer leads to a stand-alone site and the product is presented among tax and legal offerings. Plans beyond the free tier are not priced.

Wrong for

A five-person firm that wants a flat monthly price and a login in ten minutes should start with Billit or Qvalia, and a developer wanting API-first onboarding with Storecove or Invopop.

Visit ONESOURCE Pagero →

#6 Invopop

Invoicing infrastructure with visual compliance workflows · Spain · invopop.com

API Workflows Published prices

Invopop is a Spanish company that treats an invoice as a workflow: import the document, sign it, generate the right format, send it to Peppol or to a tax authority, then update the source system. The pricing page publishes the whole ladder, including how many credits each plan carries and the monthly cost of larger Pops packs.

  • Pricing: Credits (Pops) + plan. Dev plan EUR 0 per month with 200 Pops and one user. Free plan: free plan.
  • Best for: Billing-system teams adding compliance
  • Strengths: Peppol document exchange; Tax-authority reporting workflows; Veri*Factu for Spain.

Where it falls short

Credits are a unit that needs learning, and the pricing page offers an estimator because the cost depends on workflow steps, countries and volumes.

Wrong for

A bookkeeper who wants to type an invoice into a form should use a portal such as Billit or B2Brouter, since Invopop expects a developer to build the workflow.

Visit Invopop →

#7 Tickstar

Peppol access point and SMP infrastructure for providers · Sweden · tickstar.com

Peppol AP Xero Stockholm

Tickstar is a Stockholm company, founded in 2007 and acquired by Xero in 2021, that runs Peppol access points and service metadata publishers for other businesses to build on.

  • Pricing: Quote only. No prices published; the site offers a free trial and contact form for access point and SMP services. Free plan: free trial.
  • Best for: Software firms needing a white-label access point
  • Strengths: Peppol access point; Peppol SMP; White-label option.

Where it falls short

Tickstar publishes no prices, and the pages we read describe infrastructure, not a screen where an invoice is typed. The home page cites ISO27001:2013, an older edition.

Wrong for

A company that wants to send invoices itself with no developer, or one with clearance duties in Italy or Latin America, should look at Billit, Tradeshift or EDICOM.

#8 Tradeshift

Global e-invoicing compliance and clearance, with a supplier network · United States · tradeshift.com

Clearance 70 countries PA in France

Tradeshift began in 2010 with European e-invoicing compliance and says compliance remains its core focus. Its product page claims out-of-the-box coverage in 70 countries, permanently registered Plateforme Agréée status in France, and a Peppol access point since 2014. For Belgium it offers two routes: the full service, or Babelway, a do-it-yourself option it owns.

  • Pricing: Per invoice (sellers). Sellers pay nothing up to 30 invoices per quarter, then $0.80 per invoice from 31 to 300. Free plan: free plan.
  • Best for: Multinationals with clearance countries
  • Strengths: Compliance in 70 countries; Clearance countries; Plateforme Agréée in France.

Where it falls short

The product page gives different clearance counts in different places, 20 in one statistic and 12 in a paragraph, so a buyer should ask for a current country list. The seller fee schedule changed from November 2025 and shrank the free tier.

Wrong for

A single-country small business needing only Peppol should pick Billit or Qvalia, which cost a fraction of a global compliance platform.

#9 EDICOM

EDI, e-invoicing and tax reporting on one platform · Spain · edicomgroup.com

EDI Peppol AP Valencia

EDICOM has worked on EDI since 1995, and its e-invoicing arm sits on the same platform as orders and dispatch advice. The site lists B2B and B2G invoicing, e-reporting, a PDP role in France, tax filings such as SII, SAF-T and myDATA, and a Peppol access point. Trust services add signatures, timestamps and archiving with evidentiary value.

  • Pricing: Quote only. No prices published; every route goes through a demo request. Free plan: none.
  • Best for: Groups combining EDI and invoicing
  • Strengths: EDI integration; Global e-invoicing and e-reporting; PDP in France.

Where it falls short

EDICOM publishes no price and no sandbox on the pages we read. The platform is broad, with EDI, iPaaS, trust services and tax filing, so a buyer who wants only invoices has to dig through modules.

Wrong for

A freelancer or a firm with a few dozen invoices a month should avoid a project-style engagement and use Billit, B2Brouter or Qvalia.

Visit EDICOM →

#10 Comarch

Enterprise e-invoicing system with Peppol and e-archive · Poland · comarch.com

Enterprise Peppol AP Krakow

Comarch, headquartered in Krakow, offers e-invoicing as a system for companies that exchange documents with many partners in many formats. The product page describes intake by EDI, a supplier portal, email with OCR and Peppol, an issuing side that converts to several formats, and validation that stops a faulty invoice with an explanation.

  • Pricing: Quote only. No prices published; the site routes buyers to a demo and a contact form. Free plan: none.
  • Best for: Large senders with an ERP landscape
  • Strengths: Accounts payable management; Accounts receivable management; Multi-level validation.

Where it falls short

Comarch states cost reductions of 70 percent and a 92 percent on-time payment figure without saying what they are measured against. The product and pricing are tuned to enterprises, with a demo as the only way in.

Wrong for

A startup or a small agency needing a simple Peppol connection should choose a priced service such as Billit, Qvalia or B2Brouter instead.

Visit Comarch →

#11 Fonoa

Global e-invoicing as part of an indirect tax platform · Ireland · fonoa.com

Tax platform 150+ countries claimed Dublin

Fonoa is a Dublin company that sells e-invoicing next to tax calculation, tax ID validation and returns. The product page says a team submits transaction data once and Fonoa translates it into the format each jurisdiction requires, through accredited connections to tax authorities with retry logic. Both outgoing and incoming invoices are covered, and errors and rejections are logged.

  • Pricing: Quote only. No prices published; the site routes visitors to a demo request. Free plan: none.
  • Best for: Tax teams running one global stack
  • Strengths: E-invoicing across markets; AR and AP invoices; Accredited tax-authority connections.

Where it falls short

Fonoa lists no price and does not describe an invoicing screen for a bookkeeper. The 150-plus country figure and the 50-day go-live are vendor claims with no country list on the page we read.

Wrong for

A company whose only need is Peppol delivery for a few invoices a month should use a portal such as Billit and skip a tax platform.

Visit Fonoa →

#12 SEEBURGER

Managed e-invoicing service on a B2B integration platform · Germany · seeburger.com

Integration Peppol AP Germany

SEEBURGER is a Bretten, Germany integration vendor whose e-invoicing service is built on the same platform as its managed file transfer and EDI products. The service page lists automatic exchange with the ERP, conversion into country-specific formats, transfer to the tax authority where the law requires it, and delivery to partners.

  • Pricing: Quote only. No prices published; the site routes buyers to a contact form. Free plan: none.
  • Best for: Enterprises with SAP and EDI estates
  • Strengths: E-invoicing in 35+ countries; Peppol access point; XRechnung, ZUGFeRD and Factur-X.

Where it falls short

The e-invoicing service is one of many cloud services on an integration platform, so the entry point is a project with an integrator mindset. No price is published and no trial is offered.

Wrong for

A small firm without an integration team, or a software maker wanting a quick API, should look at Billit, Storecove or Invopop.

Visit SEEBURGER →

#13 Avalara

E-invoicing and live reporting inside an indirect-tax platform · United States · avalara.com

Indirect tax Live reporting Seattle

Avalara is a Seattle-based indirect-tax company, and its E-Invoicing and Live Reporting product extends that platform to structured invoices. The product page describes one application for local compliance, a single API, self-service activation of new mandates, and support for clearance, real-time reporting and both centralized and decentralized models.

  • Pricing: Per transaction (quote). The page promises transaction-only pricing without per-entity multipliers but shows no figures; a demo request is the route in. Free plan: none.
  • Best for: Tax teams already on Avalara
  • Strengths: E-invoicing and live reporting; Clearance and real-time reporting; Centralized and decentralized CTC models.

Where it falls short

No price and no country list appear on the page we read, so the coverage claim cannot be checked there.

Wrong for

A small business or a software maker that wants a transparent monthly price should read Billit, Qvalia or Invopop before asking for an Avalara quote.

Visit Avalara →

What this category is

E-invoicing software creates, validates and exchanges invoices as structured data (UBL, Factur-X, ZUGFeRD, XRechnung or a national format) instead of as images. It connects the sender to a delivery network such as Peppol, or submits to a tax authority for clearance or real-time reporting, then returns status messages and stores the legal archive.

How we ranked these

Five tests, applied to every product. The order is not the tests alone: places 1 to 3 go to challengers, vendors outside the best-known brands in a category, wherever the category has them, and the established names follow from place 4 in their ranked order.

  • Setup in e-invoicing software: Identifiers, access points and the first accepted invoice.
  • The real price of e-invoicing software: Documents, countries and clearance fees.
  • Getting your data out of e-invoicing software: Archive rules and portable formats.
  • Independence from the vendor in e-invoicing software: Network ownership and hosting.
  • Who e-invoicing software is for: One country, many countries or software builders.

What the data says about this market

Of the thirteen vendors in this ranking, three are headquartered in Sweden (Qvalia, Pagero and Tickstar), three in Spain (B2Brouter, Invopop and EDICOM), two in the United States (Tradeshift and Avalara), and one each in Belgium, the Netherlands, Poland, Ireland and Germany. Five publish a price of some kind: Billit, B2Brouter, Qvalia, Invopop and Tradeshift for sellers. Four give away a free tier on the pages we read: B2Brouter, Pagero, Invopop and Tradeshift. Billit, Storecove and Tickstar offer a trial instead.

How to choose

  1. Map where invoices go, and in which regime. Start with a list of every country you send invoices to or receive them from, then mark each as open Peppol, clearance, real-time reporting or no mandate.
  2. Choose between a portal, an API and a managed service. Decide who touches the invoice.
  3. Run a test invoice and price the second country. Ask for a sandbox or trial and send a real invoice to a real recipient, including one that is rejected, so you see how the error comes back.

Questions and answers

What is the best e-invoicing software in 2026?

Billit ranks first of 13, best for small firms in Belgium and neighbors. B2Brouter is second (small firms and software builders) and Qvalia third (peppol senders wanting API and published plans). Places 1 to 3 go to challengers, vendors outside the best-known brands, wherever the category has them.

Is a PDF invoice sent by email still legal as an e-invoice?

It depends on the country and on the type of customer. Where a mandate applies, tax-authority systems and the Peppol network expect structured data in a defined format, and an image of an invoice does not meet that.

What is the difference between Peppol and a clearance model?

Peppol is a delivery network: your access point sends the structured invoice to your customer's access point, and the tax authority is not in the middle.

Do I need an access point of my own to send Peppol invoices?

No. A business normally uses a certified provider that operates the access point for it. Billit, Qvalia, Tickstar, Pagero, B2Brouter, Comarch and Seeburger all describe themselves as Peppol access points.

How much does e-invoicing software cost for a small business?

At the low end, B2Brouter's Basic plan is free with up to 24 transactions per year, and its Professional plan is EUR 110 per year.

Can e-invoicing software connect to my ERP or accounting system?

Most can, but the depth differs. Storecove lists integrators including Microsoft, Odoo, Oracle, QuickBooks, Sage, SAP and Zoho. Comarch names a long ERP list from SAP to NetSuite and Microsoft Dynamics.

What happens when an invoice is rejected by the customer's system?

The recipient's access point or the tax authority returns a status message with a reason, and the sender has to fix the data and issue a corrected document.

How long must e-invoices be archived?

The period is set by each country's tax and commercial law, and it is often several years, in the original structured format. Vendors differ in how they handle it.

Is e-invoicing software the same as accounts payable automation?

No, though they overlap. Accounts payable automation focuses on capturing supplier invoices, coding them and routing approvals, then paying. E-invoicing software focuses on the legal format and the delivery channel: Peppol, clearance, status messages. A company may need both.

Which e-invoicing software suits a software company adding invoicing to its product?

Storecove, Invopop, Tickstar and Qvalia are built for this. Storecove offers one API across more than 30 e-invoicing frameworks, with an Integrator program. Invopop runs visual workflows with pricing in credits.

Does the vendor's hosting location matter for e-invoices?

It can, because invoices hold customer names, amounts and tax numbers. Qvalia states that transactional data is stored in the EU. Tickstar lets a customer select an AWS region among Ireland, Singapore and Australia.
