TeamViewer adds enterprise policies, integrations and the widest device reach, at team license prices above AnyDesk's. AnyDesk is a small, fast client that holds up on poor connections, costs less for a team and can run on your own servers, but its production systems were breached in 2024. Large mixed fleets pick TeamViewer; lean teams on weak links pick AnyDesk.

Where they differ

Licensing and renewal

Both list euro prices, billed annually before tax. TeamViewer Premium is 83.90 a month for 15 licensed users, one channel and 300 managed devices; Corporate is 185.90 for 30 users and three channels. AnyDesk Standard is 49.90 for up to 20 users, one connection and 500 managed devices; Advanced is 111.90 with two connections. For a team, AnyDesk costs less and includes mobile platforms.

Fleet management and platform reach

TeamViewer covers Windows, macOS, Linux, iOS and Android, lists mass deployment and connection reporting from Premium, sells an integrations package covering ServiceNow, Zendesk and others, and adds SSO and conditional access in Tensor. AnyDesk puts MSI deployment and Group Policy in Advanced, and SSO and ITSM integrations in Ultimate. A helpdesk with hundreds of varied devices is better equipped with TeamViewer.

What the 2024 incidents touched

Both were hit in 2024, in different places. TeamViewer says the APT29 group used a compromised employee account to copy staff directory data from its corporate network, and that its separate product environment was not reached. AnyDesk disclosed that production systems were compromised, revoked its code-signing certificate and forced password resets and client updates. TeamViewer's incident was the more contained one.

Weak connections and keeping traffic in-house

AnyDesk says its DeskRT codec keeps work smooth on bandwidth as low as 100 kilobits per second, and its Ultimate plan can be hosted on your own servers, keeping sessions off the vendor's network for regulated sectors. TeamViewer describes its enterprise tier, Tensor, as a cloud platform. For a factory site on a poor line, AnyDesk is the practical choice.

When neither fits

A small IT team that wants predictable per-technician pricing and a vendor without a major 2024 incident should skip both. Splashtop pairs good connection quality with a clean security record, and Zoho Assist has a usable free plan and low paid tiers.

Questions and answers

Can a business use TeamViewer or AnyDesk for free?

Not reliably. Both are free only for personal use, and both run commercial-use detection that has blocked or frustrated small businesses using the free version for work. Budget for a license with either one, or choose a product with a real free business plan.

Is AnyDesk cheaper than TeamViewer?

For teams, yes. AnyDesk Standard is listed at 49.90 euros a month for up to 20 users, against 83.90 for TeamViewer Premium with 15 users, both billed annually. For one person it reverses: TeamViewer Remote Access is 17.90 with three managed devices, AnyDesk Solo 29.90 with 100.

Are TeamViewer and AnyDesk blocked by security software?

Both brands are heavily abused by scammers. For AnyDesk this has led some security teams to block it by default, so ask your own security team and your client sites what they allow before you standardize on either product. A blocked client makes any license worthless at that site.

Do TeamViewer and AnyDesk include mobile device support?

AnyDesk lists Android and iOS platforms as included in its Solo, Standard and Advanced plans. TeamViewer lists mobile device support as an add-on to its Remote Access, Business, Premium and Corporate licenses, so supporting phones and tablets adds to the TeamViewer bill.
