Clio vs MyCase
Clio is the broadest and most widely used cloud platform for law firms, with the largest integration marketplace and separate products for intake, drafting and research. MyCase packs case management, billing, trust accounting and a client portal into three published per-user tiers for solo and small firms. Firms that depend on integrations choose Clio; small firms that want the essentials at a clear price choose MyCase.

Where they differ
Integrations and ecosystem
Clio's marketplace connects to hundreds of tools for e-filing, document management, accounting and intake, and it is the larger of the two by some distance. MyCase lists 70+ integrations on its Pro plan and ships a smaller marketplace. A firm with an established tool stack will find fewer gaps at Clio.
Edge: Clio
Price clarity for a small firm
MyCase publishes three tiers: Basic at $50 per user per month billed annually ($60 monthly), Pro at $100 ($120), and Advanced at $130 ($150). Accounting is a $39 per user add-on. Clio also publishes per-user tiers, but we could not load its pricing page this session, and its intake, drafting and AI products are sold separately. For a small firm budgeting a year ahead, MyCase is easier to total.
Edge: MyCase
Automation and intake in the plan
MyCase puts unlimited eSignatures, document generation, workflows and a legal CRM with intake forms on Pro, and Open API access on Advanced. Clio handles lead intake through Clio Grow, a separate product from its practice management plans. Getting intake and document automation inside one subscription is simpler at MyCase.
Edge: MyCase
Reporting and customization
Clio gives larger or more complicated firms more to configure. MyCase puts customizable reporting in every tier, but our assessment is that its reporting and customization are shallower than Clio's. We have not benchmarked either with a large matter volume.
Edge: Clio
Payments and processor choice
MyCase payments run through LawPay, a sister company within 8am, which simplifies reconciliation and charges no monthly fee for it, but steers firms toward one processor. Clio has its own payments product, Clio Payments. We did not verify processing rates for either, so this stays a draw.
Edge: even
Tally: Clio 2, MyCase 2, even 1.
When neither fits
Neither is right for a personal injury practice, which tends to prefer Filevine, or a mid-size firm with heavy workflow and reporting needs, which should look at Actionstep or Centerbase. Smokeball suits high-volume document practices better than either.

Questions and answers
What does MyCase cost per user?
MyCase Basic is $50 per user per month billed annually or $60 billed monthly, Pro is $100 or $120, and Advanced is $130 or $150. Its optional accounting add-on is $39 per user per month. We could not verify Clio's current per-user prices this session.
Do Clio and MyCase offer a free trial?
MyCase offers a 10-day free trial with full access and no credit card. Our category entry lists a free trial for Clio, but we did not confirm its length because its pricing page did not load.
Does MyCase include trust accounting?
Yes, trust accounting is part of the core feature set from the Basic tier. Clio also includes trust accounting. For full firm accounting beyond trust, MyCase sells the separate accounting add-on.
Which is better for a solo lawyer, Clio or MyCase?
Usually MyCase, because its tiers are published, it costs less for the essentials and its client portal and billing are easy to learn. Clio makes sense when a solo practice already depends on several integrations that MyCase does not offer.
