Teams look past Loom when the free Starter plan runs out at 25 videos and 5-minute recordings, when $18 or $24 per user per month feels high for recording alone, or when they want an editor, a documentation tool or a Mac-only demo recorder instead. Most go to Tella, Zight or ScreenPal first.
Visibility in our rankings can be paid for. Payment moves a vendor's position within
the shortlist; it never adds a vendor, and it never changes a word of the review or of this page. How it works:

Questions and answers
Can I download my videos from Loom on the free plan?
Downloading is listed under Business and above, not under Starter on Loom's pricing page. Check your plan before you rely on a download, and consider upgrading for one month to export a library you want to keep.
Is there a tool that migrates a whole Loom library?
Tella says its free Tella Transfer desktop app signs into your Loom account and exports the whole library, including private videos and folders, as MP4s or straight into Tella. We have not tested it, and no other vendor on this page lists a comparable tool.
What is the cheapest paid alternative to Loom Business?
On the vendor pages we checked, ScreenPal Deluxe is $4.00 per month paid annually, Screencastify Starter $7 per user per month billed annually and Screen Studio $9 per month billed yearly. Loom Business is $18 per user per month, so compare features, not price alone.
Which alternatives have a free plan?
ScreenPal (15-minute recordings, 10 hosted videos), Screencastify (10 videos, 30 minutes), Zight (5-minute recordings), Descript (60 media minutes, watermarked exports), Guidde and Vidyard list free plans. Clipchamp is free with a personal Microsoft account. Tella lists a 7-day trial instead.
Is there a Mac-only or desktop-only alternative?
Screen Studio is Mac-only and says there are no near-future plans for Windows support. Camtasia and Snagit are desktop apps for Mac and Windows. Loom itself runs on Mac, Windows, iOS and Android plus a Chrome extension.
Do I need SSO when I switch?
Check it first, because it is gated on most plans. Loom puts SSO and SCIM on Enterprise, Tella on Enterprise (or as an add-on to any paid plan), ScreenPal on Team Business, Screencastify on Enterprise and EDU, and Zight on Scale.
