Teams look past Jamf when they need one console for Windows and Android as well as Apple, when a quote-only price is hard to budget, or when Apple-only management is more than a small fleet needs. Most go to Iru or Mosyle to stay Apple-focused, or to Microsoft Intune and Hexnode for mixed fleets.
Visibility in our rankings can be paid for. Payment moves a vendor's position within

What each alternative does differently
1. Iru
Endpoint, identity and compliance platform, formerly Kandji · United States
The nearest peer in spirit, an Apple-rooted platform, but it now sells Windows and Android management too, plus identity and compliance automation under one agent. Pricing is quote-based like Jamf, so the switch does not make budgeting easier. It is a platform choice more than a price cut.
Switch from Jamf if you want Apple depth plus Windows, identity and compliance evidence from one vendor.
Pricing: Quote only: the vendor says pricing is based on the solutions you need and the number of users and devices; a free 14-day trial is offered for Endpoint Management. (free trial)

2. Mosyle Business
Apple-only management with security add-ons in one product · United States
Apple-only like Jamf, but sold with published prices and a permanent free tier for 30 devices. Paid licenses carry a 30-license minimum billed annually. It covers macOS, iOS, iPadOS, tvOS, watchOS and visionOS, and suits schools and mid-size offices more than very large estates.
Switch from Jamf if you stay Apple-only and want published per-device prices instead of a quote.
Pricing: Mosyle Business FREE covers up to 30 devices; Business PREMIUM is $1.00 per device per month and Mosyle Fuse is $3.00 per Mac or $1.50 per iOS, iPadOS or visionOS device per month, each with a minimum of 30 licenses billed annually. (free plan)

3. SimpleMDM
Apple-only MDM with a single per-device price · United States
A narrow Apple-only MDM with no contract and no device minimum, so a fleet of eight Macs is as welcome as eight hundred. Hosting, zero-day OS update support and a Munki integration are included. It has no bundled security product comparable to Jamf Protect.
Switch from Jamf if you run a small Apple fleet and want month-to-month billing with no commitment.
Pricing: $3.00 per device per month on the monthly plan or $2.50 per device per month on the annual plan, no contract required; Enterprise is custom and billed annually. (free trial)

4. Microsoft Intune
Cloud endpoint management bundled with Microsoft 365 · United States
Licensed per user rather than per device and bundled into Microsoft 365 business and enterprise plans. Microsoft documents support for Android, iOS and iPadOS, Linux, macOS, Windows and Chrome OS. Check its Mac feature list against what you use in Jamf, since it is one product across all those platforms.
Switch from Jamf if you already license Microsoft 365 and most of your fleet runs Windows.
Pricing: Intune Plan 1 is listed at $8.00 per user per month, paid yearly, and is included in Microsoft 365 Business Premium ($22.00 per user per month), E3 and E5; add-ons such as Remote Help ($3.50) are priced separately. (free trial)

5. Hexnode UEM
Unified endpoint management across eleven device platforms · United States
A cross-platform tool covering Windows, macOS, Linux, Chrome OS, iOS, Android and several TV and kiosk platforms from one console. Tiers start at 15 devices, with a 14-day trial. Apple-specific depth is thinner than a specialist, but one policy engine covers the whole mixed estate.
Switch from Jamf if you manage a mixed estate with kiosks and Android and want one low-cost console.
Pricing: Pro lists at $2.2, Enterprise at $3.2 and Ultimate at $4.7 per device per month, with monthly or annual billing; the top Ultra tier is on request. (free trial)

6. JumpCloud
Cloud directory with device management attached · United States
Starts from a cloud directory and adds device management to it, charged per user, not per device. The Device Management package is a published per-user price, with SSO and device identity as further packages. A good fit if identity is the real problem, less so for pure Apple fleets.
Switch from Jamf if you want directory, SSO and device management in one per-user subscription.
Pricing: The Device Management package is $9 per user per month billed annually or $11.00 billed monthly; Device Identity Management is $13 billed annually; the full Platform packages are quoted by sales. (free trial)

Open source and self-hostable, including air-gapped networks, where Jamf is a vendor-run product. The Free tier has inventory and policies; MDM, software deployment and support come with Premium. Covers Apple, Windows, Linux, Android and ChromeOS. It expects engineers who like configuration as code.
Switch from Jamf if you have engineers and want to self-host and keep management in version control.

Questions and answers
Can I keep my existing Apple devices when I leave Jamf?
Yes, but they must be re-enrolled. Devices enrolled through Automated Device Enrollment can be reassigned to the new MDM in your Apple business account, while Apple says unenrolling removes the profiles and apps the old MDM pushed. Plan a redeploy of those items.
Does Jamf have a public price?
No. The Jamf pricing page gives no per-device figure for Jamf for Mac or Jamf for Mobile and directs buyers to contact Jamf or a reseller. Jamf Now, for organizations under 25 employees, lists management of up to 3 devices at no cost.
Is there a cheaper tool for a small Apple fleet?
Yes. Mosyle has a free tier for up to 30 devices, SimpleMDM charges $2.50 per device per month billed annually with no contract, and Jamf Now is Jamf's own small-business product. Check each page for the current figures before you decide.
Can I get data out of Jamf Pro?
Yes, through its APIs. The Jamf Pro API mainly uses JSON, and a Classic API also exists. The documentation overview does not list which endpoints cover inventory or policies, so check the endpoint reference for the data you need before you cancel.
Will one MDM manage Windows and Android as well as Mac?
Not Jamf. Jamf Pro is described for Mac, iPhone, iPad and Apple TV. Microsoft Intune, Hexnode, Fleet and Iru each document support for several operating systems, which is why mixed fleets look at them first.
What does Jamf include beyond management?
Jamf for Mac lists endpoint security from Jamf Threat Labs, web threat prevention, Zero-Trust Network Access and AI tool governance. Jamf Protect adds antivirus and threat hunting for macOS, iOS and visionOS. Check which of these you actually use before you replace them.
