Coupa alternatives: 12 compared

Buyers look past Coupa when they want a smaller tool for requisitions, approvals and purchase orders, when they want published prices instead of a quote, or when the owner and scope of a large suite no longer fit. Most go to Zip, Jaggaer, Ivalua or SAP Ariba at enterprise scale, and to Procurify or Precoro below it.

Short answer: The closest replacements for Coupa in our procurement software ranking are Zip, JAGGAER and Ivalua. Choose Zip if you want a modern intake layer in front of your existing ERP instead of a full suite. All 12 alternatives below are ranked products from Best Procurement Software in 2026, and each says where it differs from Coupa and when Coupa is still the better choice.

Visibility in our rankings can be paid for. Payment moves a vendor's position within the shortlist; it never adds a vendor, and it never changes a word of the review or of this page. How it works: placement disclosure · editorial process.

Why buyers look past Coupa

  1. No public price to compare against

We found no pricing page on coupa.com, and the category file lists Coupa as quote only. A buyer cannot test a budget before a sales process starts. Alternatives such as Precoro, ProcureDesk and Tradogram publish their plan prices.

  2. A suite built to cover everything

Coupa presents itself as a spend management platform across procurement, finance and supply chain. Its procurement page lists intake, open buy, services procurement, inventory, contracts, budgets and insights. A team that needs requests and approvals is configuring a much wider product.

  3. Private equity ownership

Thoma Bravo completed its all-cash acquisition of Coupa on February 28, 2023, in a deal valued at about $8.0 billion with a minority investment from a subsidiary of the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority. Coupa has since added Scoutbee and Rossum, both named on its homepage.

When Coupa is still the right choice

Coupa is still the right choice when one platform has to cover direct and indirect spend, finance and a supplier network. Coupa says it serves 3,200 customers and 55% of the Fortune 500, and its procurement page covers contracts, budgets and supplier risk in a single repository. If the real complaint is a single missing module, check whether an add-on fixes it before a full migration.

What to expect when you switch from Coupa

  1. Get export and exit terms in writing

Coupa's help and community sites sit behind a customer sign-in, so we could not read its export or termination documentation. Ask for the format and scope of exports for purchase orders, invoices, contracts, supplier records, catalogs and approval chains. Confirm notice dates before talking to a new vendor.

  2. Budget for the supplier side

Suppliers transact through the Coupa community, which Coupa counts at more than 11 million buyers and suppliers. A new tool means re-onboarding them. Vendors state their own timelines: Precoro four to six weeks, ProcureDesk two to three weeks, Kissflow about eight weeks to the first full cycle.

  3. You may not need to touch the ERP

Several alternatives are layers, not suites. Zip connects to SAP, Oracle and Workday, Kissflow to SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, Dynamics 365, JD Edwards and Sage, and Fairmarkit to Coupa itself. Decide first whether the finance system stays, since that shortens the list.

Questions and answers

Can I export my data from Coupa before I leave?

Coupa's export documentation is behind a customer sign-in, so we could not verify the formats. Ask your account team in writing for exports of orders, invoices, contracts, suppliers and catalogs, and test one before you cancel.

How much does Coupa cost?

Coupa does not publish prices; we found no public pricing page. The category file lists it as quote only, so the price depends on modules, users and spend volume negotiated with sales.

Who owns Coupa now?

Thoma Bravo, which completed the acquisition on February 28, 2023 in a deal valued at about $8.0 billion. A wholly owned subsidiary of the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority made a minority investment. Coupa's stock was delisted from Nasdaq.

How long does it take to move to a different procurement tool?

Vendors state weeks, not months, for smaller deployments: Precoro four to six weeks, ProcureDesk two to three weeks, Kissflow about eight weeks for the first cycle. Enterprise suites such as Ivalua and Jaggaer publish no comparable figure.

Can I replace only part of Coupa, such as sourcing?

Yes, if the other tool connects to what you keep. Fairmarkit integrates in both directions with Coupa, Oracle and ServiceNow, and handles sourcing only. Zip is positioned as an orchestration layer over ERPs and other suites.

Which alternative fits the accounting system I already use?

ProcureDesk publishes this mapping: Startup for QuickBooks or Xero, Growth for NetSuite, Intacct or Business Central, Enterprise for SAP. Kissflow lists SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, Dynamics 365, JD Edwards and Sage connectors.
