Offices look past Dentrix when they want hosted software, a price they can read before a sales call, or a bill that does not depend on which packages and suites they add. Most go to Dentrix Ascend for the shortest move, to Open Dental or tab32 for a low published fee, or to Archy and Oryx for flat per-location plans.
Vendors can pay for more visibility on this website, for example a higher place in a ranking or more room on a page. Commercial relationships can also affect which products we feature and how prominently. Every vendor link is marked the same, whatever the arrangement behind it. The first three alternatives
go to challengers, vendors outside the best-known brands in a category, wherever the category has them; the
established names follow in their ranked order. How it works:

What each alternative does differently
1. Dentrix Ascend
United States
Sold by the same company as Dentrix, and Henry Schein One says it offers guided migration of patient data, images and history from Dentrix to Ascend. Ascend runs in a browser with no local servers, lists SOC 2 Type II compliance and bundles texting, email and online scheduling that Dentrix sells as add-ons.
Switch from Dentrix if you want to stay with Henry Schein One but drop local servers and backups.

8. Eaglesoft
United States

Questions and answers
Can I move my patient data out of Dentrix?
Yes, other vendors state they convert from Dentrix. tab32 names Dentrix among the systems it migrates from, and Oryx says it handles full migration with a test account review. Ask each for the scope, including images and ledgers.
Can I sell or transfer my Dentrix license when I leave?
Only with the whole practice. Henry Schein One says Dentrix cannot be sold or transferred alone, and requires a transfer agreement, written permission and payment of transfer fees. Otherwise the license cannot be assigned.
What happens to support when I leave Connected Care Essentials?
The Dentrix pages do not state notice terms, so ask Henry Schein One in writing. The enrollment is described as covering a year for one monthly fee, with priority support, automatic updates, in-product chat and Dentrix Imaging.
Is Dentrix Ascend an easier move than a different vendor?
Henry Schein One says it offers guided migration services for moving patient data, images and history from Dentrix to Ascend. Ascend is cloud-based, so local servers are no longer needed, but its price is quoted through sales.
Who supports the move?
Each receiving vendor does. Henry Schein One's own onboarding page describes a project manager, a trial environment with your data and a day of hands-on training, but that applies to moving to Dentrix, not away from it.
When can I reach Dentrix support during a transition?
Dentrix chat and phone support run Monday to Thursday 6am to 6pm MST and Friday 6am to 5pm MST. Keep that window in mind when scheduling a final export or a cutover weekend.
