US President Theodore Roosevelt has been hailed for his progressive policies such as the creation of national parks and “progressiveness” and his anti-trust policies. Less discussed was his overt and shocking levels of racism and staunch imperialism. This is perhaps no better illustrated by his Address at the celebration of the African Diamond Jubilee of the Methodist Episcopal Church in Washington, D.C. January 18, 1909
